CMLT-C 110 (8032): Writing the World: Where’d You Go?

The short paper should be 3 paragraphs long.

Paragraph I

-Compare and contrast an aspect (character, scene, theme etc…) of Cymbeline with an aspect of your choice from The Epic of Gilgamesh.

Paragraph II

-Find a passage that gives us insight into one character from The Epic of Gilgamesh. What does it reveal about them, their view of themselves, their attitude towards others (etc…)? Why is this passage important?

Paragraph III

-Choose either Gilgamesh or Enkidu from The Epic of Gilgamesh and explain how\why the character in question undergoes change. Be sure to point out the kind of change this character experiences.

· No direct quotations — just list the page numbers in parentheses to direct me to the appropriate areas in the text. Do not waste space summarizing the plot.

· Proofread carefully. Be sure to italicize the title of the novel every time you use it.

· All 3 Short Papers for the semester will follow this same format: 1 ½ – 2 pages long; double-spaced; 12-point font size, 3 paragraphs long, each paragraph should be between half a page and 2/3 of a page long; no extra spaces between paragraphs; stapled if not double-sided; your name on both pages; course number on both pages; date; short paper number; careful proofreading, especially for missing words, misspelled words, sentence fragments, improperly marked book titles, garbled phrases, missing and misused apostrophes. A title and works cited page are not necessary for these 3 assignments. The purpose of the short papers is to help you develop your own ideas about our literature. Do not use any outside sources for these assignments! The short papers are worth 3 points because each paragraph is worth 1 point. However, one of the 3 points can be lost if there are more than 2 errors in proofreading.
