The Human Resource Frame—Its Fundamental Premise and Assumptions

Discussion Proper: The Relationship between Organizations and Employees

Every company has its own perspective on the relationship between it and its employees. The perspectives vary based on core assumptions. Chapter 6, in your text, compares two organizations, Apple and Nucor. Apple focuses more on seeing employees "as tools" to accomplish goals for the organization while Nucor is a company that believes its employees have individual needs that can be aligned with the company's profits and goals.

Review this week's resources and study the readings on Apple and Nucor.

Prepare your discussion in the following:

1. An explanation of which organization's (Apple or Nucor) perspective you think is more effective. Justify your position. Be sure to include the motivation theories that are relevant as well as Morgan's psychic prison metaphor in your explanation.

2. Provide two more alternative suggestions that organizations can see their employees for greater productivity and performance – Support your suggestions with recent academic journals in each case.

Note: In addition to the resources provided this week, also provide two more recent academic resources within 5 years (2012-2016) in APA style and citation format to support your topic.
