The effect of flow on size, weight and lipid levels of overwintering channel catfish Ictalurus Punctatus. (Middle Mississippi River)

Topic: The effect of flow on size, weight and lipid levels of overwintering channel catfish Ictalurus Punctatus. (Middle Mississippi River).

Introduction:

· River Mods.

Levees

Constrained

Disconnected flood plain, dams, wing dikes    Comment by Author: These increase high velocity areas and reduce low velocity areas

Reductions in shallow-low velocity area    Comment by Author: This is the main of this topic. Lack of low velocity areas may affect fish survival. Need more energy negatively affect fish survival such as overwintering

· Fish.

Channel catfish. (We are using Channel Catfish as “canary in the coal mine” indicator).

· Lipid, weight, and size.

Impact on fishes. (Overwinter habitat has been lost).

Size, Weight, and Lipids. (Most studies have focused on a single one of these).

· Objective

The influence of velocity flow on size, weight and lipids.
