Assessment 2- Before beginning the assessment, complete the following:

· Research the training and development functions of your chosen organization.

Deliverable

Based on your research into the training and development functions of the organization you selected, write a research paper in which you complete the following:

· Explain how the organization identifies specific training needs.

· Describe the types of training methods used within the organization.

· Analyze the organization's use of resources (internal and external) to assist with training.

· Identify the kinds of training the organization provides for employees. Include company-wide training, such as orientation and harassment, as well as training that is unique to this organization, such as forklift training and ERP system training.

· Explain how training effectiveness is measured.

· Identify ways that talent is developed within the organization. Is there a mentoring program? Leadership training? Educational opportunities?

· Analyze the importance of training and development to the organization. Is it a valued service?

· Analyze how the organization's value of training and development affects its ability to attract and retain talent.

· Identify the kinds of outplacement counseling and employee assistance programs offered.

· Identify any gaps in the organization's separation policies.

· Explain how eliminating these gaps would protect the organization from specific types of litigation.

· Describe the organization's formal discipline policies. Be sure to include information on who is involved with implementing and enforcing the policies.

· Describe any alternative dispute resolution processes.

· Research the compensation and benefits of your selected organization. These topics are fluid and ever-changing, and a very good resource of information for these topics is the Capella library. Please search for sources published within the last 1–2 years for your assessment as you describe the compensation and benefits programs your chosen organization offers.

Deliverable

Based on your research into the compensation and benefits of the organization you selected, write a research paper in which you complete the following:

· Describe the formal pay structure within the organization.

· Describe any benchmarking activities the organization undertakes, including information on whether the organization offers a competitive compensation structure or incentives.

· Describe any profit sharing or stock ownership programs that are available.

· Explain which benefits offered by the organization are legally mandated and which are voluntary.

· Analyze the cost of the benefits to the organization.

· Explain how benefits are communicated to employees.

· Analyze the environmental factors that have influenced the compensation and benefits of the organization.

· Describe any problems associated with the compensation policies of the organization.

· Analyze any current issues related to compensation and benefits faced by the organization.

ASSESSMENT 6- Preparation
Select a company that has a manufacturing component to use as the basis for your analysis. You will be performing research to make a recommendation for an overseas manufacturing site for your chosen organization. If you choose the organization where you are currently employed, please keep in mind that the analyses you make must be based on facts that can be documented rather than your personal opinion as an employee.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is an agency of the United Nations that creates and promotes international labor standards. The ILO convenes representatives of governments, employers, and workers to form international policies and programs promoting human rights and decent work for all. The ILO maintains an online database of international labor statistics. To use the database to prepare for this assessment, navigate the ILO, linked in the Resources, to complete the following:

· Under Statistics and Databases, click ILOSTAT-ILO database of labour statistics.

· Click on Country Profiles and select three countries of interest.

· Review the data presented for each of the selected countries.

· Create a table comparing the most recent data available for each of the selected countries. 

· Examples of relevant data could include monthly earnings, labor force, employment/unemployment rates, working time, et cetera. This data is a starting point for your research, but do no feel limited to this site. You are welcome to conduct additional research as you see fit on additional topics such as corporate tax incentives, education rates, economic status, competition for labor, or the number of exiting manufacturing facilities in the area.

It will be helpful for your recommendation to compare the data from the three selected countries to U.S. data.

Incorporate your prepared tables of comparison into the assessment.

Deliverables
Based on your research of international labor statistics and the organization you selected, complete the following:

· Write a research paper that includes the following components: 

· Briefly compare the data for the three countries you selected.

· Determine which country you would recommend for further investigation as a potential overseas manufacturing site for your selected company.

· Explain why you selected this country.

· Identify the types of additional information needed to make a final decision.

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation that represents your findings from your analyses. Be sure to follow the formatting instructions listed below.

· Audience: Decision makers and members of management of your chosen organization.

· Length: 8–10 slides.

· Resources: Use APA guidelines in your PowerPoint presentation to cite and reference your sources. If you use a source in the text of a slide, you need to reference it on the slide. The last slide of your presentation should be your reference list.

· Elements: Introduction, Recommendations, Conclusion.

· Complexity: Do not get hung up on adding graphics, audio, or video. This should be a summary of findings and recommendations that highlights the key points of the information you gathered for your analyses.

· Evaluates data to recommend options to organizational management.

· Analyzes how an overseas labor solution meets organizational needs. Supports analysis with examples.

· Prepares professional proposal and presentation for organizational management consideration that are comprehensive and supported.

· Analyzes human resource strategies to resolve business needs.

· Develops recommendations to facilitate management decision-making. Supports recommendations with research-based literature.
