Behavior 104

In order to provide the appropriate intervention, social workers first need to have conducted a thorough assessment. Having a comprehensive understanding of a client and their social environment, including the influence of racism and ethnocentrism, allows a social worker to accurately identify the presenting problems and help the client develop goals to address their needs. Not completing a full assessment may result in inaccurately identifying the presenting problem and pushing goals on the client to which they do not agree. A good assessment is the best foundation for treatment planning.

In addition, evidence based practice requires social workers to use the best available evidence to inform their practice decisions. This assignment helps you prepare for the final project by beginning to identify the presenting problem and possible goals, as well as beginning the research process to inform your treatment recommendations when working with the identified client in a case study.

CASE STUDY: JUAN AND ELENA

Submit a 3 pages paper in which you:

  • Identify the case you will be using for the final project
  • Describe the presenting problem(s)
  • Describe 2 goals for the client based on their presenting problem
  • Identify a specific peer-reviewed article and explain how it could inform understanding of the problem/population, development of goals, or intervention and treatment plan
  • Explain how ethnocentrism and racism may influence the case (make sure to draw from this week’s assigned readings)

Skills 108- 2

For this Assignment, review this week’s Resources. Then, select a population with which you might like to build a group. Consider the needs of the population and the type of group you might build to benefit the population. Think about how you might structure this group and what role you, the social worker, might need to assume in order to support the group members. Finally, reflect on what intervention skills this group might require and the potential group dynamics of which you should be aware while running the group.

Assignment: (3- to 4-page paper in APA format).

Your paper should include:

  • A description of the population with which you might like to build a group and an explanation of the type of group you might build with this population.
  • An explanation of the concerns that might be addressed for this population in that group and a description of which cultural structures and values may oppress, marginalize, alienate, create, or enhance privilege and power for this group.
  • A description of the details you must consider when planning the group. For example, composition of the group, recruitment strategies, format (open or closed), time frame, and use of screening interviews for members.
  • An explanation of the intervention skills needed for working with this group and an explanation of the potential professional roles the social worker might need to take on as the leader.
  • An explanation of the potential dynamics to be aware of when running this particular group.

Topic: Mod 6. Analyzing and Integrating Leadership Theories

Description

Case Study: Analyzing and Integrating Leadership Theories
For this Critical Thinking assignment, you will use the attached case study. Pryor, M. G., Humphreys, J. H., & Taneja, S. (2011). Transforming the Texas plant. Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies, 17(7), pp. 111-120.
Begin your well-written paper with a short overview of the case study. After providing an overview of the case study, write an assessment of the case that addresses the following questions:
• What are the internal and external drivers for change at the Texas Plant?
• What type of leadership and communication style did David exhibit when hiring Paula? What could he have done differently? What type of team dynamic did David create by placing Paula in a direct reporting line to Harvey? How did Paula’s and Harvey’s decisions and actions affect the team dynamic?
• If you were a consultant brought into the Texas Plant, what advice would you give David, Paula, and Harvey, given the challenges they face, as to the next steps needed? If you were a member of this staff, what would be some of your concerns from an organizational ethics and trust perspective?
In your assessment, discuss specific leadership concepts and theories as they relate to organizational transformation, organizational leadership, communication, strategic management, and high-performance teams.

National Security

Description

This is part one of the class project assessments. [ Click here to see the overview of the assignments.]

An important purpose of this assignment is to examine what the different branches and layers of government do to address a policy using a current issue to illustrate it.

Complete a research essay on the government and national security. Remember this is being written for the president to read.

Here are the aspects and questions to address for this essay:

Identify a current issue being debated about American national security.
Explain two competing solutions to this problem.
Evaluate which one is preferable.
Address the responsibilities of each level of government, which are federal, state, and local. (Most of the essay will be about the federal government).
Address the responsibilities of each of the three branches of the federal government.
REQUIREMENTS:

500 word minimum and 600 word maximum length, not including references listed at the end or footnotes if used.
Incorporation of concepts and terms from the required readings.
Inclusion of facts from a recent news article about the topic/solution.
Correct spelling, grammar, and formatting, whether it's APA, MLA, or Chicago/Turabian.
See the essay rubric for further details on grading.
Writing tips:

1) Write concisely! More is not necessarily better if the required points from the rubric are missed. A 500-word essay can earn an "A," while a 700 word essay may lose points for going too long.

2) Essays should be written in the third person perspective. (Avoid using "I, me, my, mine, we, us, our, you, your").
POLS210 Class Project:
There are three parts to your class project: the first two are essays. The final part is a PowerPoint presentation that will display the combined work on the essays. For each assignment, there will be detailed instructions and rubrics with scoring criteria available in the “Assignments” section of the course.
OVERVIEW:
1. You are a White House Staff Member working for a newly inaugurated President. The President is preparing the first “State of the Union” address to Congress which will outline the president’s vision for addressing current issues facing the United States.
2. You will research issues to create the President’s address. The president is not a dictator. The proposals must consider the Constitution, relevant court rulings, and public opinion.
3. After you have completed your research of the issues, you will then create a PowerPoint presentation reflecting your proposed State of the Union address. Think of it as your TV infomercial promoting your plan, and use it to grab the public’s attention.
Issue essays
Using the “Assignments” section of the classroom, you will write two essays together with cited research sources. They will be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 600 words per essay, and you may lose points for going too long! The rubric states an exemplary essay will be concise. The topics for the issues will be:
National Security
For each essay, choose a problem within the topic. What are two competing solutions to this problem? Explain which one is better and why. How will the different levels of government be involved (federal, state and local)? This will require research into news recent news articles (published within four weeks of each assignment’s due date). For each respective week, include relevant information from the required readings for that week too.

Dissertation as previously described

Please use the attached documents for guidance. I require chapter 1-3. . I prefer to work with my previous writer as he/she is extremely hard working, but cannot find his/her identifiers. Please do not limit sources or number of pages based on limited requests features as I will honor the writers work.

Appreciative Inquiry Interview Questions

Melvin posted

Professor and classmates,

After the searching websites, I found this one to be rather interesting to me.  These are the questions I would ask my coworkers. All questions found on https://ams.nyscommunityaction.org/Resources/PastEventsDocuments/2013/June%202013%20Conference/AppreciativeInq/AI%20Key%20Questions.pdf

1. Think back through your career. Locate a moment that was high point, when you felt most effective and engaged. Describe how you felt, and what made the situation possible.

2. Without being humble, describe what you value most about yourself, your work, your organization.

3. Describe your three concrete wishes for the future of this organization, or for yourself.

I liked these questions because it let me know about the individual. It shows me what they brought to the organization. Work ethic, experience they have with change, and what they are looking forward too. Questions 1 and 2, if asked to a supervisor. I want to know where his/her mind is at. Are they looking at what they have done or what his/her team has done?  To me it says a lot about what type of supervisor they might be.  I was asked a similar question when I interviewed for the job I have now. My answer was not that I had won SNCO of the Year for Europe or how many Higher Headquarter inspections I received superior performer on. Nope, I focused on the one Airmen that failed his PT test and was about to get kicked out. I took him under my wing got him in shape. He scored in the upper 80’s and he felt that he had someone (supervisor wise) that cared for him. Not only did you continue to improve on his physical fitness, but he also won Airmen of the Year.
