Theoretical Analysis
Theoretical Analysis
- To complete this component of your course project:
- Select your two case study subjects for your project and explain why you have chosen them.
- Analyze current trends in compulsive and addictive behaviors that are directly related to your case study subjects.
- Discuss the theoretical models of treatment you feel would be most helpful for your case study subjects. Support your recommendations with documented information from your research, using research with publication dates within the last three years.
- Review your course project description for an understanding of how this assignment fits into your course project as a whole, and the Theoretical Analysis Scoring Guide to learn how you will be graded on this assignment. Suggested guidelines: 2 pages, 4 references.
Philosophy Questions
Philosophy Questions
- Explain and critically evaluate Descartes argument from "doubt" that he uses to try to prove that the body is a different thing from the mind.
- Explain the Socratic Method of Teaching. How is it used in the "Myth of the Cave" (see the reading excerpt from Plato at the end of Chapter 2)?
- Explain how critical thinking can be used to analyze a philosophical issue, and illustrate with an example.
- Explain the phrase "cogito ergo sum", and the role it plays in Descartes' version of Foundationalism.
- Could God have a reason to deceive humanity? Explain Descartes' answer, and discuss whether you agree or disagree (and why).
- What is deduction and what is induction? How are they different? Give an example of each type of argument.
- Explain the atomist view of Democritus. What ethical view does Epicurus develop from this kind of materialist metaphysics? Discuss and critically evaluate.
- Compare and contrast Plato and Aristotle's views of reality; how are they similar, and how do they differ?
- Explain and discuss the difference between a priori and a posteriori knowledge.
- Compare and contrast pragmatic theories of truth with the correspondence theory of truth.
Nanotechnology Applications
Nanotechnology (also called nanotech) is a branch of materials science
that deals with manipulating matter on the atomic scale. It is so
called because this field deals with engineering on the scale of a
billionth of a meter, also known as a nanometer. Nanotechnology seeks
to solve a wide range of problems from the construction of atomic
scale machines to changing material properties at the atomic level.
Use the Internet, Argosy University library resources, and your
textbook to research the field of nanotechnology.
Write a paper discussing some of the basic scientific and technical
concepts of nanotechnology. Do the following in your paper:
Discuss current or future applications of nanotechnology in fields
such as medicine, engineering, space exploration, fuel cell
development, air and water purification, and agriculture.
Provide at least three examples of real-world applications in use or
in development with reliable references.
Write a 2-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources..
