Criminal Justice

Create a PowerPoint presentation to discuss two (2) types of restorative justice.

Include the following:

  1. Briefly describe the philosophy.
  2. Discuss the history of this approach.
  3. Explain the myths vs. facts.
  4. Discuss the effectiveness of this approach. (Statistics.)
  5. Use at least two (2) actual examples/cases. (Search the Internet news media.)
  6. What are some recommended long-term solutions?

PowerPoint Requirements

  1. Length: 10 to 15 slides (excluding the cover slide and the reference slide).
  2. Design:
    • Do not to overcrowd your slides with information.
    • Be thorough, but also be concise.
    • Use bullet points to highlight main points.
    • If you use graphics, be sure to condense them, so your presentation is not too large.
  3. Mechanics:
    • PowerPoint does not require that you write full sentences or paragraphs; in fact, this will detract from your presentation.
    • Your ideas must flow logically and your points should be presented in a consistent format.
    • Check your spelling and use standard American English.
  4. You should consult at least three (3) SCHOLARLY sources in preparing your presentation. Your last slide should be a References slide following APA format.
  5. Must be saved as a ppt or pptx format and submitted through SafeAssign. (I will not accept assignments not submitted this way.)
  6. If you use many photos, save your file in two parts and submit separately.
  7. If you would like to include a video (YouTube), save on an individual slide and submit separately.

Assignment 3: Incident Response (IR) Strategic Decisions

Assignment 3: Incident Response (IR) Strategic Decisions

Suppose  that you have been alerted of a potential incident involving a  suspected worm spreading via buffer overflow techniques, compromising  Microsoft IIS Web servers. As the IR Team leader, it is your  responsibility to determine the next steps.

Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:

  1. Explain  in detail the initial steps that would need to be made by you and the  IR team in order to respond to this potential incident.
  2. Construct  a process-flow diagram that illustrates the process of determining the  incident containment strategy that would be used in this scenario, and  identify which containment strategy would be appropriate in this case,  through the use of graphical tools in Visio, or an open source  alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not  included in the required page length.
  3. Construct a process flow  diagram to illustrate the process(es) for determining if / when  notification of the incident should be relayed to upper management, and  explain how those communications should be structured and relayed  through the use of graphical tools in Visio, or an open source  alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not  included in the required page length.
  4. Detail the incident recovery processes for the resolution of this incident.
  5. Use  at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note:  Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be  typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with  one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA  or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional  instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the  assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title,  and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in  the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Summarize the various types of disasters, response and recovery methods.
  • Develop techniques for different disaster scenarios.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in disaster recovery.
  • Write clearly and concisely about disaster recovery topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

Course Project Part 2-Practice

Assignment 1: Course Project Part II—Practice

You have researched the theoretical writings related to your selected mental disorder in the second part of the course project. In the third part, you have examined the practice related to the disorder.

You have conducted field research on practice related to the disorder, an interview with a mental health professional. Based on all of the information you have gathered, develop a paper that includes the following:

  • Describe the cause, extent, and nature of the disorder, such as number of people diagnosed and under treatment, demographics, and other factors of interest.
  • Explain how the selected disorder is diagnosed.
  • Explain how the selected disorder is treated. Be sure to include all the views on appropriate treatment and comment on diversity of views or dissent.
  • Differentiate the diagnosis of this disorder from those of the other disorders within the same diagnostic category.
  • Comment on culturally bound syndromes, cultural biases, or the interplay between assessment and diagnosis and culture.
  • Provide data from the professional interview completed relevantly and substantively integrating this information into the body of the paper. Provide the name of the interviewed professional with his/her credentials. Written transcripts of the interview should be recorded and submitted with the assignment (e.g. in paper as an appendices).

Assignment 2: Destination Presentation

Assignment 2: Destination Presentation

Before beginning this assignment, you should thoroughly review PowerPoint Presentation Creation; Enhancing Presentations with Pictures, Transitions, Objects, Backgrounds, and SmartArt from your course textbook, Go! All in one: Computer concepts and applications (https://digitalbookshelf.argosy.edu/#/user/sso)

For this assignment you will use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a presentation about a place to which you have traveled or would like to travel.

  • Begin by opening a new Microsoft PowerPoint file.
  • Save it as LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A2.ppt.
  • The presentation should include at least six slides that could describe the location, the method of travel, the qualities of the location that make it interesting or fun, the places you can visit, and any cultural activities in which you might like to participate.
  • Choose an appropriate theme, slide layouts, and pictures to format the presentation attractively.
  • Research the location and include properly cited (APA Style) material. Here is a great resource you can use to find information about places in the US and all over the world. (Be aware that the automatic citation generator for this site uses MLA style and not APA.)
  • Add (copy and paste) a chart or graph you can create in Microsoft Excel. This could be a travel budget.
  • Add (copy and paste) a table you can create in Microsoft Word. This could be a daily schedule.
  • Include a References slide at the end.

Imagine that you were asked to conduct a study similar to Milgram’s study of obedience, using adolescent participants. Point out at least one ethical issue present in Milgram’s study and explain what you would do differently to address that issue with your study on adolescent obedience. Would you address that ethical issue differently if you were conducting a study among a particular race or ethnicity? What about with elderly participants? Explain your reasoning.

Discuss the current issue of illegal aliens and the impact this has on the U.S. health care system.  Should the taxpayers pay for health care for individuals who enter this country illegally?  How do emergency rooms and hospitals protect their fiscal survivability / prevent themselves from falling victim to providing extended care to illegal aliens and ensure that they do not violate the provisions of EMTALA?
