Budgeting Process

You have learned about budgeting strategies and how to effectively put a budget in place. You also have looked at how to create various budgets. For your discussion board post in week five please read case 9-46 on the bottom of page 412 in your textbook. Then in your post answer the two questions posed regarding this case. Describe several operational and behavioral benefits that are generally attributed to a participative budgetary process. Identify at least four deficiencies in Patricia Eklund’s participative policy for planning and performance evaluation purposes. For each deficiency identified, recommend how it can be corrected.

Distinguish between the terms actus reus and mens rea. How are they significant in criminal law?

NO PLAGIARISM DUE THURSDAY JULY 11, 2019.  ATTACHED IS ARTICLE AND CHAPTER TO ASSIST WITH ASSIGNMENT

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read A Statutory Approach to Criminal Law (Links to an external site.) and Chapter 4: The Elements of a Crime (Links to an external site.). Additionally, watch Components of a Statute (Links to an external site.).

Understanding the elements of a crime, particularly the distinctions  between guilty mind and guilty act, are essential components for all  criminal justice professionals to comprehend. Take the time this week to  understand these concepts fully, and be prepared to use the information  gained to analyze all criminal law questions throughout this course and  in your professional career. It is natural to assume that either a  mental state or criminal act can be easily proven; however, the old  expression that “the devil is in the details” truly applies to these  foundational, legal concepts. Always remember that the state must prove  all elements of a criminal charge beyond a reasonable doubt, and that  burden of proof rests solely on the state. Your initial post must be at  least 300 words in length. Support your responses with credible  sourcing, either from the required readings this week, or from  independent research that you conduct in the Ashford University Library  or online, and properly cite any references.

Please answer the following questions below:

  • Distinguish between the terms actus reus and mens rea. How are they significant in criminal law?
  • To what standard of law must the defendant’s mens rea be proven in  order to gain a criminal conviction? Must the state prove “what the  defendant was thinking at the time of the crime” in order to prove mens  rea? Why or why not?
  • To what standard of law must each element of the actus reus be proven, and why?
  • Which of the two legal requirements listed above (i.e., actus reus  and mens rea) is more difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt in a  trial, and why?

W3A1

You’ve just left an all-hands meeting at your company*. The CEO was very upset at the rise of shadow IT projects – a major indicator that the company’s internal information system has failed to meet its needs. Because the current information system is inadequate, inefficient, and outdated, the CEO is inviting everyone in the organization to propose a new operational, decision support, or enterprise information system to replace it. The executives have allocated $5 million to fund the most promising idea. This is your chance to make a difference in the company (not to mention your own career). Write your proposal as a memo that the entire C-suite will review. Include at least these points, in your own words, to be persuasive: 1. Identify the main functions of your proposed information system and why they are important to the business. 2. Describe what types of data your information system will hold and how data quality will be ensured. 3. Explain how the old information system handles the functions you mentioned, the problems that occur, and why your information system will handle things better. 4. Offer evidence of feasibility: Show that similar information systems have been built successfully and that they save more money than they cost. The executives are busy, so keep your memo to 1-4 pages and avoid any extraneous content. *You may use a current or former employer, but do not disclose anything confidential. Or, you can pick another organization if you are familiar with their internal (not customer-facing) information systems. You can disguise the organization and populate it with famous names. Made-up companies are problematic because of the amount of detail and realism they require.

What Are Regular Expressions? Why Are Regular Expressions Useful? How Would You Use Regular Expressions In Data Visualizations?

Many data science, analyst, and technology professionals have encountered regular expressions at some point. This esoteric, miniature language is used for matching complex text patterns, and looks mysterious and intimidating at first. However, regular expressions (also called “regex”) are a powerful tool that only require a small time investment to learn. They are almost ubiquitously supported wherever there is data.

What are regular expressions? Why are regular expressions useful? How would you use regular expressions in data visualizations?

Discussion Length (word count): At least 250 words (not including direct quotes).

What are some of the basic features that you would put in the application?

Please make sure that you read THE LITERATURE REVIEW OF TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION MODELS AND THEORIES FOR THE NOVELTY TECHNOLOGY before completing the assignment. A local community college has a problem with retention of students. The community college has done some preliminary research and found out that students feel disconnected and do not know what is going on with their course schedules, degree programs and options. The community college’s board of directors has decided through the use of a consultant that a mobile phone application that runs on Apple and Android smartphones is the best strategy to help with the perceived feeling of being ‘disconnected’ by the students. You are in charge of coming up with a solution, essentially the application and making sure that this is going to be integrated with the school’s information systems (none are specified, so make some assumptions) which is going to provide students with information.

  1. What are some of the basic features that you would put in the application?
  2. How can you measure the potential success of the program before it is implemented?
  3. Who are your stakeholders in the project and how can they be useful to you in answering the question of whether or not they would use the program?

Please make sure that the paper is APA formatted, citations and references, as well. Please reference some of the models that are mentioned in the article and/or a model or approach that you have found that you think will be more effective.  450 words

Charts And Their Types

This task relates to a sequence of assessments that will be repeated across Chapters 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Select any example of a visualisation or infographic, maybe your own work or that of others. The task is to undertake a deep, detailed ‘forensic’ like assessment of the design choices made across each of the five layers of the chosen visualisation’s anatomy. In each case your assessment is only concerned with one design layer at a time.

For this task, take a close look at the data representation choices:

  1. Start by identifying all the charts and their types
  2. How suitable do you think the chart type choice(s) are to display the data? If they are not, what do you think they should have been?
  3. Are the marks and, especially, the attributes appropriately assigned and accurately portrayed?
  4. Go through the set of ‘Influencing factors’ from the latter section of the book’s chapter to help shape your assessment and to possibly inform how you might tackle this design layer differently
  5. Are there any data values/statistics presented in table/raw form that maybe could have benefited from a more visual representation?

Introduction To Block Chain And Cryptcurrency

In chapter 1, the author presents several use cases for blockchain technology. Describe the use case that aligns most closely with your current job role, including how blockchain technology would change things that you currently do in your job. If you are not working in a job role that aligns nicely with a use case presented in chapter 1, describe a job role that you would like to hold after finishing your degree program, and how blockchain technology may affect those job functions.
