Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the discussion forum. 

Our textbook presented a number of issues related to human resources in public agencies.  Choose one aspect of the employment process (patronage, unions, diversity, affirmative action, bias in exam process, merit pay and bonuses, veteran’s preference, outsourcing) and explore how these issues have changed over the past fifty years.

In your follow up post to your peers, state what you have learned from them, and ask probing questions to elaborate on the issues they raised.

By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from your peers. If you have not done so lately, please review the Rules of Discussion. 

In the past few decades, Americans have seen government shutdowns due to budgetary concerns.

Find a relevant, recent and credible news piece (article or video) regarding the most recent government shutdown. Suggested sites on which to find credible news include The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, or NPR, just to name a few. Discuss the nature of the impasse, and explore what could have been done differently to avoid the shutdown. Be sure to include a link or attachment of your news piece and cite your source.

In your follow up posts, respond to two other students stating what you learned from their post and ask a question related to the post. The goal is to have a discussion that advances our knowledge on this topic.

Assignment Background

A large communications technology manufacturer wants to develop, manufacture, and sell new devices based on this module’s technologies; the new offerings should complement its current line of communications products. Management has asked you to develop a feasibility study that analyzes the potential of the technology.

Assignment Instructions

Develop a feasibility study that examines the potential impact of this module’s technologies on a business in the industry described above. Use the resources and templates introduced on the Feasibility and SWOT Analysis page in Module 01 as a guide. Your submission should be:

• grammatically correct and free from spelling errors
• written in a professional tone
• a minimum of 1000 words in length

Using a Microsoft Word document, please assume you are a reporter writing ten years hence. Please discuss the technological changes that have been made since 2017 and how those changes have affected humanity, and how those changes have affected themselves 

Use the Internet to research companies that utilize external recruiting processes.

Next, based on your research, provide three (3) characteristics of a job where external recruitment would be ideal. Next, determine two (2) advantages and two (2) disadvantages of using each recruiting process. Support your position with specific examples of the identified advantages and disadvantages.

In the period 1940-1945, the US would go into a “war economy” that dramatically impacted the American economy and society.
