Explain how Jewish identity can be based upon religious, cultural, or ethnic elements – or any combination of them

 https://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=Judaism&qs_version=NIV

Upload in MS Word document an 1200 word essay, double-spaced, with proper in-text citations, answering one of the following questions using the Oxtoby readings on Judaism:

1.) Explain how Jewish identity can be based upon religious, cultural, or ethnic elements – or any combination of them.

2.) Describe the experience of visiting B’nai Synagogue. What did you notice about the space? How was it decorated? How was the space organized? How was it being used? Did anything surprise you? What was similar to other religious spaces you have been in? What was different?

3.) How do different Jewish rituals and practices reflect the importance that Judaism attributes to its historical past?

4.) Re-tell the story of Abraham and the binding (almost sacrifice) of Isaac from a 21st century context. Who is Isaac? Who is Abraham? What is his job? Why does he do what he does? Why does he stop? How does Sarah react?

5.) Reflect on one (or more) of the creation narratives we have read and discussed in class–Genesis (Jewish & Christian), Enuma Elish (Babylonian) , Theogony (Greek), and Pyramid Texts (Egyptian). What questions do they answer about why the world is the way it is? What do you find that is true/what do you agree with? What do you disagree with?

Response in 1-3 paragraphs, relevent,  on topic, professionally written in college level dialog

Respond to these remarks, in 1-3 paragraphs with relevant college level content professionally written remaining on topic.

I do believe that capitalism is natural because beginning in the early times such as the biblical days, bartering was prevalent and there was trade for one item for another. For example, bartering began in the agrarian atmosphere where trading items such as barley for livestock or needs for a particular material or service was prevalent. As the banking world was created, the accurate account for equal trading of materials and goods was established. As time passed by, gold and silver became the standard bearer of trade and is (still) the common denominator when it comes to the value of trade and commerce:  “The use of money (minted coins) began in Palestine when the Persians ruled the land (530-330 B.C.). Gold darics, silver shekels, and minas were used to buy and sell things (Neh 5.15). Coins circulated from many different places. Even the Persian province of Judea was given permission to make its own silver coins. After the Jewish people won their independence under the Maccabees (164 B.C.), they again made their own coins.”1 As the above passage clearly states the aspect of capitalism has been around a long time.

As far as Marx’s opinion of capitalism’s political aspect, there are larger than life individuals who own more than the “the little man” and hold more weight in the world economic and political arena, but there are also millions of individuals on the smaller scale who independently own their own businesses.  With the rise of technology and shortage of satisfying jobs in the workplace, many individuals are creating and using apps such as UBER, LYFT and GRUBHUB, which encourage various people to explore their minds and become entrepreneurs.  The survival curve in the United States is gradually changing from working for someone to becoming an independent business owner who can control his or her hours during the day and can dictate how much money they will make daily without the set rate of income dictated by another business owner.  The strong dynamic of America is that through immigration and creation of authentic and diverse businesses, it makes our country more economically viable relative to the world because of the showcase of attractive and essential goods for lucrative trade.  I believe Capitalism will not transform to Socialism in America because it will hinder the use of our diversity and talent provided via our melting pot of our natio

The Pros of having a single payer healthcare plan would be considered universal coverage for people that are eligible for health coverage “the coverage would also be continuous people would not have to lose coverage or need to change coverage, family status, or income” (Blumberg, Holahan 2019). The single payer coverage would guarantee that all U.S residents would have the same benefits, with no high out-of-pocket expenses. The single payer plan guarantees coverage for people with preexisting conditions, and helps people to great access to care for people that have a lower income. The health plan has equal rates for people under the plan.

The cons of the single payer health plan is that the system “some estimate that the single payer system could increase the federal health care spending by more that 50 percent” (Blumberg, Holahan 2019). The health care spending would increase government spending which leads to higher taxes, and a increase in the federal deficit. The single payer systems could lead to cuts in the healthcare organizations including cuts in Physicians pay which could add more to the shortage of Physicians.

There are people who are for and against single payer health plans. A single-payer plan is just one way that we can lead up to universal coverage. Many people do not understand what a single-payer system entails. Our healthcare system relies on the private sector. Although we have the Affordable Care Act, we have programs that are federally sponsored like Medicaid and Medicare that “provide subsidized or free healthcare to those who qualify using taxpayer dollars”. The end goal of both is to have the healthcare industry run and regulated by the government and take private health insurance companies out of the mix (Neeman, 2018). The problem is that we would have to use taxpayer money to fund the costs. “If so many other developed nations have adopted the single-payer healthcare system, then why is the US so hesitant to follow suit?” Just like everything, there are pros and cons to the matter.

Pros:

Everyone is covered. Unfortunately, healthcare is not a right. So why not switch over to Medicare for all where everyone has coverage? About 1 in 3 Americans between the ages of 27- 36 say they’ve chosen not to seek needed medical attention because they couldn’t afford it (Neeman, 2018).

Healthier population. When people don’t have insurance coverage, they are losing out on benefits, especially preventive care. It’s way easier to catch and treat something before it advances into something worse.

Better for business. Most employees have insurance through their employers. Employer- sponsored coverage is actually mandatory under the Affordable Care Act if a company has 50 or more employees (Neeman, 2018). But if we had a single-payer system, employers wouldn’t have to worry about the costly benefits.

Reduced spending per capita. The US spends the most per capita; granted we do have a larger population.

Cons:

Significant tax hikes. Just imagine how much more you would be paying in taxes. The money has to come from somewhere. For examples a “2.2% tax would be applied to individuals who earn $200,000 and to families who earn $250,000 or less each year”. This could hurt businesses causing a higher unemployment rate.

Longer wait times. It’s going to be hard to avoid these longer wait times. If everyone had access to the same coverage, there would inevitably be more people seeking medical attention that there are now, which would create longer wait times (Neeman, 2018).

Reduced government funding. This would financially drain the government. It would take money away from infrastructure and education.

Eliminating competition. “Competition drives innovation.” If there are no profits to drive the competition, doctors couldn’t compete with the best technology (which increases their profits).

It doesn’t matter whether you are for or against this idea, but you need to at least have an understanding.

Please carefully read the following assignment details in its entirety.

Instructions: Please carefully read the following assignment details in its entirety. There are many components to this particular assignment, and each component is graded.

This essay should be between 900 and 1000 words, excluding the required annotated bibliography.
First, you will choose a public debate that has at least two opposing sides (please do not reuse your Toulmin essay topic). As before, you need to research that topic in order to narrow the topic’s scope, so it can be easily discussed in 1000 word essay. Note: Consider your audience as laymen in the field who have only general knowledge of your topic.

This essay must include a minimum of five sources.  Three should be peer-reviewed sources, preferably from the APUS databases.  From the library welcome page, click on Advanced Search at the bottom of the page and then check the “peer reviewed” sources box filter. The following should clarify the term “peer-reviewed”:  http://youtu.be/rOCQZ7QnoN0. You may use eBooks; however, as discussed in your textbook, books generally are not as current as peer-reviewed articles.  You may also use primary sources (interviews, statistics, etc); however, these primary sources should be obtained from experts within that field.  If you cannot find strong sources for your chosen topic, then change your topic. If you have a question about the validity of a source, please contact a librarian: [email protected]
Make sure to include the following sections in your essay:

an introduction and claim,
background,
body,
and a conclusion.

Make sure your essay includes the following:

The background for your chosen topic,A discussion of both sides of the debate, including core values or warrants underlying their argumentsYour common ground (Rogerian) solution/claimAn explanation of how that common ground claim can resolve the core issue for both sides.

After you have written your essay, please make sure to revise the content of your essay. Lastly, be sure to edit your essay by checking grammar, format, and smaller technical details. Please make sure your essay is written in third person.

The Annotated Bibliography

As with the Toulmin essay, an annotated Bibliography (AB) is due with your Rogerian essay. The following is a sample of an annotated bibliography entry.

Clark, Irene L. The Genre of Argument. Fort Worth, TX: Harcourt Brace, 1998. Print.

Clark’s textbook identifies the major steps to developing a well-researched and well-written argumentative essay. It is older, but still contains much useful material on process. Professional essays are included in the text as models. It will help me mostly with writing and organization, since internet research has changed since 1998.

Examine the U.S. Government’s support during the Great Depression for programs such as the Federal Arts Project, the Federal Writers’ Project, and other such efforts. Determine whether or not such projects were good government investments during those hard times, and provide two (2) examples that support your viewpoint. Determine in what ways the U.S. government currently tries to support the arts.

Selecting Your Target Market

Two assignments are listed in this section.  I have included the points for each section along with specific pages for examples and expectations for grading.  The total point allocation is for both assignments.  You may enter them as one document (multiple pages) or as two separate files.

Create a PVP – 20 points

Read Pages 27-38 in the 1-Page Marketing Plan Book.  On page 32 & 33, there is an example of a PVP.   To create a good PVP and Avatar Profile, use your market research data.

Create your PVP, which stands for Personal Fulfillment, Value to the Marketplace and Profitability.  I am looking for the following three things.

  1. An acceptable number of options for your business or service.  In the example, the author listed 4 different types of photography business (weddings, photojournalism, corporate photography and family portraits).
  2. A numerical rating for each area of your PVP and a final score. The numerical rating should be based on DATA (RESEARCH, most likely secondary data).  For example, the rating for profitability should include data that identifies projected growth and sales for each type of photography business.  The numerical rating for “value to the marketplace” may include a combination of data and what your business will do that differentiates it from what others are doing in the marketplace. You will include a written analysis after the PVP grid that covers the rationale for your ratings.
  3. Select one “target market” for the rest of the course that will be your targeted customer.  As the book states, you may select other markets as time goes on, but for our class you will select only one. This allows you to practice the process and application of marketing principles and techniques.

Note: A couple of people are considering franchises or businesses they already own. Still walk through the exercise to confirm why you selected this business. For example, if you own a remodeling business, you may want to use the following areas: dry way, plumbing, heating and air (HVAC), flooring, painting, framing, concrete, etc. You would then rate these based on the PVP. If you a franchise type business (Jiffy Lube) you may want to list other franchises you considered and use the PVP to again confirm your choice.

Create a Customer Profile or Avatar -20 points

Chapter 1 in The 1 Page Marketing Plan provides an example profile or avatar of a targeted customer. Create one of your ideal future customers. Again, use research to back up attributes of your idea customer.

In this section, I have included a number of resources to help in conducting market research.  Please review them and use the questions that help you to become the expert on your customers and that fit your industry and business.

This where your market research will come in handy. Use various types of data to create a comprehensive profile.

Cite resources where you found your information. This is critical if you need to go back and reference information.   Create a grid or table to cite sources. You can include links, references, etc. A minimum of 7 resources should be considered.

(Types of data (identity, quantitative, descriptive and qualitative) (Links to an external site.)

(Links to an external site.)  https://www.smartinsights.com/customer-relationship-management/customer-privacy/types-customer-data/

Note:   This is just one way simplified way to categorize different types of data. You will conduct your own research to complete the profile and remember to identify your sources.

Explore new art trends from America and Mexico, and interpret the work in comparison to that of Europe.

The beginning of the 20th century saw with it a new understanding of the universe, thanks to the discoveries on energy and physics from Albert Einstein, and the contemplation of the human consciousness from Sigmund Freud.  With these new interpretations of the universe and its inhabitants came a focus in the arts towards inventiveness and technological advancements.  The two Great World Wars united the World in conflict, and at its end, the movements of European and American art collaborated and invented a global art stage, exploring all of the innovations of the creative process as one collective force.

Objectives:

· Investigate unique styles of European artists, and distinguish the work and intentions of specific movements.

· Discover how each “ism” (and their respected artists ) seeks to defy the societal expectations of art, and challenges us to ask what art really is meant to be, and how we should be looking at it.

· Explore new art trends from America and Mexico, and interpret the work in comparison to that of Europe.

· Distinguish the visual interpretations of specific regions and how they identify with their unique cultures.

· Evaluate how modern inventions and necessities impacted the art of the early 20th century, including photography, architecture and design.

??QUESTION??

Now is a good time to talk about beauty, and whether or not art has to be beautiful.  Because let’s face: a lot of it isn’t.  It just isn’t.  But, the artists knew this!  What we need to think about now is content, the message the artist was trying to give us, the viewer.  How hard was this for you this week?  Was it hard to appreciate this art because you didn’t find it beautiful?  Let’s face the reality that modern art is very challenging to understand, and let’s share the challenges we faced this week.

Explanation of the cognitive processes involved in eyewitness memories.

For your assignment, you will prepare a presentation designed to  educate students in law school about eyewitness research. Your  presentation should cover the following:

  1. Explanation of the cognitive processes involved in eyewitness memories.
  2. Discussion of the variables that impact memory (age, context, proximity to crime, stress, intoxication).
  3. Exploration of the procedures used to gather eyewitness testimony  and their impact on eyewitness accounts (questioning, perpetrator line  up, interview dynamics, demand characteristics).
  4. Explanation of special populations of eyewitnesses and their suggestibility.
  5. Recommendations for using eyewitness testimony at trial.

Support your presentation with at least two references from peer-reviewed journals.

Length: 7-10 slides (with a separate reference slide)

Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide

Create a professional presentation that incorporates appropriate  animations, transitions, graphics, and speaker notes. The speaker notes  may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists. Be sure to add a  reference slide or transition for all the references you use. Be sure  to add your last name in the footer of each slide.

Methodology And Evaluation Plans YOUTH HOMELESS SHELTER

The methodology section is one of the core components of the grant. This section is concerned with addressing the question: “How will you carry out the project?” (Gitlin & Lyons, 2014, p. 92). For example, if your proposal is for a nonprofit-related project, you might identify the population served or indicate who will receive services. Depending on the grant type, you may also include the research sample and associated inclusion criteria. A research proposal may also include the research design strategy, assumptions, validity, reliability, statistical analysis, timeline, and evaluation plans. Finally, in this section you may address human resources requirements and materials or supplies needed to complete the project.

In recent years, evaluation plans have become increasingly important to prospective funders. Competition for grants is intense, and funders must feel confident that money will be well spent and that projects can be appropriately evaluated. This is an important consideration for the grant seeker as well. Your organization will also want to be assured that the time and effort put into a project proves that the objectives are met and if not, why.

For this Assignment:

  • Review the Final Project Guidelines provided in this module’s Learning Resources.
  • Carefully review your Gitlin & Lyons text, the University of Wisconsin-Extension resource, and the Community Tool Box resource as well as other Learning Resources that focus on methodology and evaluation. You may also find additional online information from reputable grant-related organizations, such as Foundation Center and individual private funders.
  • Remember that this content must demonstrate that it addresses funder interests as well as the grantee perspective.

In 3–5 pages, provide your Methodology and Evaluation Plans.

In developing the methodology for your project, keep these thoughts in mind:

  • A project should undertake only activities that will move it toward the objectives.
  • If any activities are not necessary for reaching the objectives, do not include them in the proposal.
  • The methodology includes the day-to-day, week-to-week, and/or month-to-month activities that will be carried out during the project period.

The Methodology includes:

  • Program description
  • Research design
  • Human subjects (sample)
  • Study validity and reliability
  • Assumptions and limitations
  • Time line
  • Analysis (and/or see Evaluation below)
  • Non-personnel resources
    • Facilities, supplies, technology, etc.
    • Any non-personnel resources that will appear in the proposal budget should be described
  • Personnel resources
    • Who will be assigned or hired?
  • Management plan (Work plan)
    • Who will be responsible for which activities
    • What is the timeline associated with activities (first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter, ongoing)?
    • How will the project be managed?

The Evaluation Plan includes:

  • Description of the specific criteria that will measure the success of the project
  • Explanation of data that will be collected
    • Verify if your grant application will require an institutional review board (IRB) approval.
  • Explanation of the data collection plans at the beginning, mid-program, and final evaluation
  • Evaluation instruments that will be used and an explanation of why these instruments were selected
  • Plans for writing the periodic reports to keep the funder updated
