How and why did you decide on your particular topic for your multimedia piece? How does it connect to your earlier work in our course?

For the second part of the project, you’ll write a 1000-word text in which you reflect on and evaluate the rhetorical and other choices you made in developing your multimedia project. Your reflection will address questions like:

  • How and why did you decide on your particular topic for your multimedia piece? How does it connect to your earlier work in our course?
  • What is the purpose of your multimedia piece?
  • Who is your audience for your multimedia piece? How and why did you decide on this audience?
  • How did you decide on your genre and medium for your multimedia piece?
  • In what specific ways did you tailor your multimedia piece to your audience?
  • What design or other challenges did you face, and how did you address them?
  • How effective do you think your multimedia piece is?
  • What new things did you learn about your topic or concept in the process of re-imagining or re-mixing your earlier work?

Audience
The audience for your rhetorical reflection should be your teacher and classmates.

Format, Media, and Design
For your rhetorical reflection, the format, media, and design are also up to you. Maybe you’ll write a traditional essay in MLA format. Maybe you’ll write in the form of a letter to your classmates. Maybe you’ll write in the form of a blog post. Or something else!

Evidence / Documentation
You are not required to use sources in your rhetorical reflection, but if you do use them, you’ll need to document them.

A few other things to keep in mind:

  • The rhetorical reflection is the place where you’ll give your readers (teacher and classmates) the context for your multimedia piece. Tell us why you wanted to create it, how it connects to other things you’ve written or researched in this course, how it connects to your own experience and interests.
  • The rhetorical reflection is also the place where you’ll explain why and how you made the rhetorical decisions you made for your multimedia piece. Tell us why you chose things like: design elements (font, images, etc.), sound and music (if applicable), use of language, length of the piece, the types of support or evidence you used, etc.
  • Think about how you might want to structure your reflection. Do you want to use a chronological organization, following the step-by-step completion of your project? Do you want to discuss each point of your rhetorical situation (purpose, audience, genre, etc.)? Something else?
  • Think about format, media, and design. There are lots of possibilities here, as the assignment prompt suggests above!

Discuss the problems with implementing an ERM.

Research paper assignment – Turning the Organizational Pyramid Upside Down

The ABC Corporation executives enjoyed your presentations on how other companies implemented their ERM programs. They are now considering deploying one of their own with our help. However, they are concerned with problems and issues with implementing an ERM program. The executives want to understand how other companies addressed these issues and problems. An important aspect in the research is what practices worked and which ones didn’t. Also its important to know what practices they didn’t use and why.

As risk manager, you will be responsible for the new corporate ERM program. The board has tasked you and your team to create a research paper for the board. The research paper will become the basis for implementing the new ERM program at ABC. Now they have asked you to research several other company’s ERM programs to identify what the best practices are and the pitfalls in their implementation.

· Ways they could be applied in the ABC corporate ERM program

· Research method(s) you used to analyze the case studies

The instructor will assign teams and the team will appoint their own leader. The team leader will be responsible for assigning tasks to each member and make sure all complete their tasks. The team leader will ensure that the final project paper is completed into one document. Failure to submit the paper will result in a zero grade.

Use Times New Roman 12 font throughout the paper. The paper will use standard APA research format. Use these statements to construct areas in the paper.

Critical Thinking 2

The Burden of Bad Design.

Some designs of products and services are inherently bad. Donald Norman has published several well-regarded books on design – The Design of Everyday Things, Turn Signals are the Facial Expressions of Automobiles, Things that Make Us Smart, among others. On his website, he offers his perspective on why a certain product (in this case, headphones) has an inherently bad design:

Additional examples of bad designs can be found on Internet. One website is listed below:

News Item 2: Examples of Bad Designs (Links to an external site)

Critically analyze the information contained in the aforementioned news items. Then write well-thought out answers to the questions below:

  1. Make a list of the factors that make a design bad or unworkable.
  2. Nominate one product/service candidate for bad design from products/services that were introduced in 2015 or later (include its name and image). Then offer justification on why this product/service rates low on the design factors that were identified in Q1.

(Please note that the Tesla’s Cybertruck is excluded from consideration, because enough has already been written in the press for/against its design features.)

Scheduling in Healthcare Settings

For your discussion, I am attaching links to two news articles from Wall Street Journal: the first one titled ‘The Informed Patient’ discusses scheduling in hospital ORs for surgeons. The second one titled ‘The Doctor Will See You Eventually’ discusses open-access scheduling for patients in family physician’s office and provides insights on scheduling best-practices in healthcare setting. Provide your opinion on what your learned from it in context of implications for scheduling in healthcare operations.
