Share five developmentally appropriate activities and the five standards in action. 1 Page Only

Here is an Example:

The five standards are:

1. Joint productive activity: Students and teachers producing together. The teachers can have activities for the children that are encouraging language, that is visual, have hands on, and can evaluate.  This can be reading a book and expanding the curriculum about it, like reading a book of “the very hungry caterpillar”.

2. Language and literacy development: Developing language and literacy across the curriculum. The teacher needs to find ways to encourage language and literacy.  The teacher can have the children draw a picture of the story of “the very hungry caterpillar” after they finish reading the story and they can dictate what they drew.

3. Contextualization/making meaning: Connecting school to students’ lives. Connecting the new information learn into real experiences.  This can be by having caterpillars in the classroom and observing how the caterpillars grow and turn into a butterfly.  This will be a science experience.

4. Challenging activities: Teaching complex thinking. From these experiences the children will learn and explore by having the visual of observing how the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

5. Instructional conversation: Teaching through conversation. The children need to have dialogs with other people to help attain more language skill.  Also by asking children open ended questions to help promote cognitive thinking.

Economic Decision

Keds—the traditional maker of white canvas tennis shoes—was near oblivion in the early 1980s because competitors like Nike, Reebok, Adidas, and Brooks took away many of its customers.

Use the market structure pricing, performance, and conduct analysis to explain what you would have done to turn the company around if you had been at the helm of Keds in the early 1980s.

Review the following example item and response for a sample that meets expectations.

Sample Prompt:

Choose a definition of organizational culture, and explain whether you agree or disagree with the definition. Use examples from your own professional experience to support your response.

Response:

Whitehurst (2016) explained “organizational culture is defined by how people in an organization interact with each other” (para. 2).  While I agree that this is one aspect of organizational culture, the definition does not capture the complex factors that contribute to organizational culture. When I started my first job after finishing my undergraduate degree in business, I worked for an organization whose main headquarters were in Dubai. When I traveled to Dubai for the first time, I realized that the culture of the Dubai office was largely influenced by the society’s culture in Dubai. I found that the organization lacked one cohesive culture and that, depending on regional locations, each office had its own culture. International organizations often face many challenges in maintaining a cohesive organizational culture (Watkins, 2013). I found this observation to be true in my experience. For example, the Dubai office seemed to endow their employees with more allowance for self-direction when compared with our domestic offices. Although people’s interactions with one another contributed to the organization’s culture, there were other factors like location, management style, and societal norms that impacted a business culture as well.

What is the benefit of the Scan It! data to Stop & Shop? What are some of the questions the company could answer about its customers?

Stop & Shop·s Scan It! App The grocery store and supermarket shopping industries have combined annual revenues in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Just food and beverage sales in the United States (U.S.) brought in $600 billion in revenue in 2014. Grocery shopping was a highly commoditized industry with over 85,000 stores in the U.S. at that time. With little variation in available item selection and less money being spent on groceries in the down economy, competition for customer loyalty continued to grow. By – using business analytics to help process buying habits of its customers, Stop & Shop, a Quincy, Massachusetts-based grocer, tried to get a better grasp on the hard-to-understand concept of customer loyalty in grocery shopping. 27 Thomas Stewart, “The Case Against Knowledge Management,” Business 2.0 (February 2002), 81, http://providersedge.com/docs/km_articles/fhe_ Case_Against_KM.pdf (accessed September 7, 2015).  flll Business Intelligence. Knowledge Management. and Analytics In 2009, Stop & Shop introduced Scan It!, a portable electronic device for customers shopping in its stores. The device allowed customers to “scan and bag” products, expediting checkout times at the end of their shopping trip. Additionally, the device offered deals based on the location of the scanner (and therefore the customer) in the store. Location-specific discounts in real time became increasingly popular among customers as use of Scan It! grew by IO% in both the first and second quarters of 2009. The most beneficial aspect of the Scan It!, however, came with the powerful analytics software built into the device by Modiv Media in which Stop & Shop owns a minority interest. The software kept track of each customer’s purchasing habits both past and present in order to individualize coupons in real time for the customer. The scanner resulted in three positive trends for Shop & Stop. Customer loyalty grew, allowing the company to secure an increased customer base than area demographics would predict. Additionally, each shopper’s basket size increased as the individually tailored coupons enticed customers to buy more. Lastly, Shop & Stop’s customer base grew as word of mouth marketing brought in more customers to try the state-of-the-art device. However, after a couple of years, Stop & Shop saw customer adoption plateau. In October 2011, the grocer created the Scan It! app for the iPhone and Android. By eliminating the need to sign in and retrieve a scanner at the store, customer adoption of the device continued its upward climb. Additionally, as customers became increasingly concerned about saving money while shopping, Stop & Shop built in budgeting software to allow customers to track their spending more effectively. Ads for the new app proclaimed, “New Mobile App Allows Customers to Shop, Bag, and Tally Their Grocery Order with Their Personal iPhone® and Android™ Devices.” Scan It! was heralded as “a first of its kind grocery app that allows customers to use their personal mobile device to scan, tally, and bag their groceries while they shop.”28 Stop & Shop had bundled an app that not only rewarded customers who shopped at its stores by helping them save money but also tracked information on sales, which the company loaded into its data warehouse and used to understand its customers. Analytics then helped Stop & Shop put the right items on its shelves to maximize sales and create customer loyalty.

Discussion Questions

1. What is the benefit of the Scan It! data to Stop & Shop? What are some of the questions the company could answer about its customers?

 2. How would you assess the level of capabilities of Stop & Shop’s use of analytics? What might the company do differently with the data to gain more value?

 3. What is the benefit of Scan It! for the customers? What concerns might shoppers have about their privacy? How would you advise Stop & Shop management to respond to these concerns?

Benchmark – Novelistic Allegories

The excerpts from Pilgrim’s Progress and Gulliver’s Travels are examples of allegorical prose works that are ancestors of the novel. In an essay of 1,000-1,400 words, use the tools of allegorical interpretation you learned earlier in the course, pick one incident in both books, and analyze each allegory in detail. Then, consider the point of each allegory: Bunyan and Swift write with different purposes, and the type of journey described in each book indicates that. What is Bunyan’s overall purpose, and what is Swift’s, and how can you tell? Finally, novels are defined as long fictional narratives in prose that deal with the concerns of ordinary middle-class people, using realistic characters and situations. Where do you see this kind of realism in each book?

Use specific quotations and paraphrases from each work as evidence for the points you make.

What do you think about this?

Privacy is a sticky issue for the Information Technology department. As IT professionals, we have access to practically everything stored about the organization, those who work there, and our customers. That can be a huge responsibility. The Discussion question this week asks you to talk about how you would apply what you’ve learned in the lecture this week and your textbook reading to address ethical and privacy issues that arise in your workplace.

Many people argue that the right to privacy is granted to all Americans in the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America (1789). This is the Amendment that grants the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, paper, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures. The counter argument is that this is not granting a right to privacy, but to protection against having that privacy exposed in a very limited arena (your person, property and the papers / effects that YOU own). This suggests that your workspace is not one of these places where you may expect any right to privacy. Often, organizations will have Privacy Policies that expressly and formally grant the organization permission to search everything in the workplace without your knowledge or specific consent. What do you think about this?

The other side of this is how organizations handle data about their customers. In 2016, the European Union adopted the General Data Protections Regulation (GDPR) as a way to protect the privacy of European citizens and legal residents. This may or may not affect your organization depending upon the scope and span of the business (if you don’t have customers residing in the EU, you are not affected). Now we have the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). This 2018 law is very broad and vague in the way it addresses how organizations should deal with data privacy issues. At least 18 other states in the United States are considering adopting this law in total or at least in part. You should familiarize yourself with this law.

This week, I would like for you to discussion what you’ve seen in the lecture, the textbook, and what you can find out about US privacy protection laws
