Watch Film To Discussion

After viewing the films, discuss two specific physical characteristics and two specific behaviors of the non-human primates.  Why is it important to understand these traits/behaviors? What can we learn from them? Give examples to illustrate your understanding.

What are your concerns and what are you looking forward to in completing this assignment?

Proposal/ Script  (2-3 pages) : Prior to writing your Final Life Review Paper, you will need to complete and submit (via Dropbox) the “Proposal / Script”. This submission will be graded, and feedback will be provided shortly after submission. Only after this submission is graded and you receive feedback, should you start working on your interview/ paper. Proposal (1 page): First you are required to submit a proposal of how you will complete this assignment. Compose 1 page on what you know about this person and what you hope to know or understand about this person. In addition, the Proposal should answer the following questions:

*  Who are you interviewing? (relation to you, age, gender and any other demographic information you would like to include).

* Where will this interview take place? (Describe the setting, date and time if you have that information)

* Why did you choose this person?

* What have you always wondered about this person?

* What is your comfort level with this assignment?

* What are your concerns and what are you looking forward to in completing this assignment?

* Which theory of aging do you foresee your interviewee experiencing and why? (acquaint yourself with the theories prior to the actual interview so you are prepared to assimilate the theory with the older adult. The theories are listed below.)

The Script: After your proposal, you will need to come up with a series of questions (script) that you will want to ask the older adult you are interviewing. These questions should cover the history of the person’s life and capture the essence of who they are. These questions should also help you assess the older adult using a theory model (possible theories below). While developing the questions, please have in mind the theoretical approach you will use to assess the older adult. There is not a specific number of questions you should come up with, however, a good set of questions for a paper of this caliber will round to an average about 15 questions. The questions should be derived from our course concepts such as chronic disease, biology of aging, love and intimacy, social interactions, living arrangements, economic security, productive aging, retirement, death and dying, etc. Please stay respectful of any topic your interviewee does not want to discuss. In writing this paper, think of yourself as a qualitative researcher. Meaning, in this process you have the chance to design your research study, conduct your own case study, and later discuss its results. Your Proposal / Script is the first step to designing your case research study!

Journey 12

Your Proposal

Directions:

Select a problem that is affecting today’s society.  In true Jonathan Swift fashion, propose an absurd satirical solution to this problem that we are facing. Remember, even though Swift’s proposition is entirely satirical, he still uses persuasive strategies.  His arguments are logical, emotional, and ethical, just like those of the serious writer.  The difference is that you, like Swift, must make use of irony, as well as three of the following satirical devices: juxtaposition, dramatic irony, caricature, sarcasm, irony, or hyperbole.

Requirements:

  • A clear problem
  • An outrageous, satirical solution
  • 4-5 paragraphs: introduction, at least 2 body paragraphs, conclusion
  • A clear, implied target of criticism
  • At least 3 satirical devices, including irony
  • Be absurd.  Be creative.
  • No Cannibalism – it’s cliché

Task:

You will write a well-developed satirical argument, using various satirical devices in a way that indirectly criticizes the target of your criticism.

  • Don’t begin your introductory paragraph by stating your proposal. Instead, point out a problem you have noticed.  Appeal to your reader for a need to listen to your proposal.
  • Next, state your outrageous proposal in as understated a tone as possible, and explain its “logic”
  • Provide supporting paragraphs that state the advantages of your proposal, and remember to use as many satirical devices as you can.
  • In your conclusion paragraph, ironically dismiss solutions that you make sound unreasonable, but are in fact the logical outcomes that you really support

Post an example of a defensive or avoidant behavior or a conflict that you observed that would be a challenge for you as the group leader.

You have now become familiar with the group members in the Evolution of a Group video by viewing their journey through the initial stage of the group. In the transition stage, the group prepares to engage in a deeper level of work. This transition stage requires group members to engage in self-disclosure, to risk becoming vulnerable, and to display mutual respect as the process unfolds. As the work deepens during this stage, some problematic behaviors may emerge among group members.

To lead the group effectively, leaders must understand what types of challenges to expect and be prepared to address these challenges in order for the group to move into the working stage. Leaders must also be aware of their own reactions to the group process and to the members to effectively facilitate the transition stage of group. Leaders are not immune to strong reactions to group members or co-leaders. As a future group counselor, you must be aware of your own reactions and be able to remain objective in leading group members. Counselors sometimes minimize the importance of this information. This level of advanced self-awareness for the leader comes though intentional self-examination, training, and supervision.

For this Discussion, you explore the challenges of the transition stage and consider strategies you could use as a group leader to address these challenges. You will also imagine yourself to be a group member and examine your experience as you view the group during the transition stage.

To prepare:

  • Watch Segment 3, “The Transition Stage” of the Evolution of a Group video.
  • Note and reflect on your mental, emotional, and physical reactions to the video. Notice whether you felt defensive or numb, found yourself getting irritated, gasped, sighed, lost your concentration, or became overly sympathetic.
  • Review Part III, “The Transition Stage” in Groups in Action: Evolution and Challenges (pp. 30–39) to give context to the video.
  • Select one challenging group members’ behavior from the video segment to use for this Discussion. This should be a situation that would be a challenge for you if you were the counselor for this group.

Observation Post:
For the observation post, you will respond as if you were the group leader.

  • 1. Post an example of a defensive or avoidant behavior or a conflict that you observed that would be a challenge for you as the group leader. This should be a situation that exemplifies the transition stage of the group as demonstrated in the video.
  • 2. Briefly share your observation (include the time stamp and member’s name).
  • 3. Describe a leader skill or strategy you might use to facilitate the group through your chosen example.
  • 4. Provide a description or interpretation of the underlying dynamic that you sense is emerging in this transition stage of the group.

Musculoskeletal and Neurologic System

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research the conditions affecting the musculoskeletal and the neurologic systems. Based on your research and understanding, respond to one of the following scenarios:

A 58-year-old female is admitted for a work up for a complaint of neck and low back pain. During admission, you discover that she underwent a renal transplant six years ago. The patient also had blood work collected. When you review the findings, you notice that her serum calcium is elevated at 13.9 (Normal values range from 8.5 to 10.2 mg/dl), her CBC shows a hematocrit of 33%, and hemoglobin of 11.1 g/dl (normal adult female hematocrit Range: 37-47%, normal adult female hemoglobin range: 12-16 g/dl).

What does this mean and what could be the underlying cause of her pain and her abnormal lab values?

What other assessments would be helpful?

2. Budokon Budo series: your goal is to teach the focus, the flow in the body and mind, theIf you are looking for a weight loss supplement for body building, your best option would probably be to choose a product that contains creatine. Creatine is a natural compound in the body. It is made up of three amino acids: glycine, methionine and arginine. Your liver has the ability to combine these three amino acids and produce creatine. The only other way to get creatine in your body is through food and by taking creatine supplements. So what happens if your body building weight loss supplement contains creatine? This is what creatine does for your body.

Your body uses ATP (adenosine triphosphate) during anaerobic exercise. During anaerobic exercise, ATP is divided into two components: inorganic phosphate and ADP (adenosine diphosphate). This breakdown of ATP is what creates the fuel used by your muscles to contract. Your ATP stores remain for approximately 10 to 15 seconds with maximum effort. After that, your muscles can no longer function with maximum effort. Taking weight loss supplements for body building that contain creatine can create more fuel for the body through this process. Most of the creatine found in skeletal muscles binds with phosphorus, becoming creatine phosphate. Creatine phosphate binds with the additional reserves of ADP that then create ATP for your body. More ATP stores, more fuel for your body.

Steps in the Organizational Staffing Process

In the organizational staffing process, there are four primary steps that should be addressed.

  1. Workforce Planning – HR and management work together to analyze the current workforce and then devise steps/plans to meet the organization’s anticipated needs.
  2. Job Analysis and Documentation – A thorough analysis of the job(s) is completed to determine the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). Then, this information is documented and categorized according to job types and job descriptions.
  3. Sourcing and Recruiting – Multiple channels are used to identify and recruit talent.
  4. Selection and Assessment – Various selection and assessment methods (such as interviewing and assessment tests) are used to narrow down the applicant pool and eventually make the hire.

As a Talent Acquisition Director, you have been asked to devise a staffing plan that will allow the organization to expand into a new global territory.

  • Develop a report that you will share with the executive team about the staffing process.
  • List each step of the staffing process in detail and discuss recruitment plans for one division of the organization (e.g., marketing, sales, finance).
  • Additionally, in your report, discuss implications you may run into while expanding into a new global territory.

For this assignment you may want to view the Sample APA Paper (Links to an external site.) if you need guidance on how to format your paper according to APA guidelines.

You can download and save the APA Template Paper (Links to an external site.) as your own paper and replace the placeholders with your own information.

Your paper should be 5-7 pages in length and conform to CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA (Links to an external site.). Include at least three scholarly references in addition to the course readings. The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find these references.

Recruiting Methods

One of the primary objectives of recruiting is to attract qualified candidates to meet the organization’s goals and objectives. Once organizations have determined the necessary worker competencies, the next step is to identify various sources that will help the organization determine the best candidates for the open roles. Often organizations will look internally, as it is the path of least resistance. However, to attract new talent outside of the organization, external recruitment efforts can be employed.

In today’s current workforce, there is a mixture of both onsite and remote workers. Onsite workers are workers that typically work at the physical location of an organization. Virtual workers can work anywhere electronically.

As a recruiting manager for a company of your choice:

  1. Create a job opening, based on the needs of the company.
  2. Describe the position, as well as the ideal candidate.
  3. List the job duties that will be performed.
  4. List the required qualifications for the position
  5. Make sure to include whether the job will be onsite or virtual. Explain why this job is virtual/onsite.

Finally, devise a report to share with the leadership team about which recruitment method (e.g., external or internal), you believe is appropriate for hiring your worker. Additionally, explain why you believe an onsite worker or virtual worker should be employed for this particular position.
