1. You have completed Draft Part I, of your drafts for your Research Proposal, which included your abstract, introduction, theoretical perspectives, and literature review sections of the proposal. Part II of the draft is the Methods section. It is due by Sunday, March 28th, at 5pm EST.
   • The methods section should include a research design, sampling procedures, investigative techniques (questionnaire, survey, observation, etc.) Please continue to follow the instructions in the document titled “Research Proposal Instructions” for the proper format of this section of your proposal. (See below)
   • The discussion section should include a narrative review of your EXPECTED findings and implications of those findings on the field of criminal justice.
   • Please keep in mind that this section (Methods Section) of your research proposal is completed on the question of: If I were going to conduct this study, how would I design it? We are not doing original research so you are NOT conducting the research. This is only a research design, (a proposal of research).

This assignment is intended to help you learn how to apply statistical methods when analyzing operational data, evaluating the performance of current marketing strategies, and recommending actionable business decisions. This is an opportunity to build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills within the context of data analysis and interpretation. Youll gain a first-hand understanding of how data analytics supports decision-making and adds value to an organization.

Scenario: 

Pastas R Us, Inc. is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in noodle-based dishes, soups, and salads. Since its inception, the business development team has favored opening new restaurants in areas (within a 3-mile radius) that satisfy the following demographic conditions:

• Median age between 25 45 years old
• Household median income above national average
• At least 15% college educated adult population

Last year, the marketing department rolled out a Loyalty Card strategy to increase sales. Under this program, customers present their Loyalty Card when paying for their orders and receive some free food after making 10 purchases.

The company has collected data from its 74 restaurants to track important variables such as average sales per customer, year-on-year sales growth, sales per sq. ft., Loyalty Card usage as a percentage of sales, and others. A key metric of financial performance in the restaurant industry is annual sales per sq. ft. For example, if a 1200 sq. ft. restaurant recorded $2 million in sales last year, then it sold $1,667 per sq. ft.

Executive management wants to know whether the current expansion criteria can be improved. They want to evaluate the effectiveness of the Loyalty Card marketing strategy and identify feasible, actionable opportunities for improvement. As a member of the analytics department, youve been assigned the responsibility of conducting a thorough statistical analysis of the companys available database to answer executive managements questions.

Report: 

Write a 750-word statistical report that includes the following sections:

• Section 1: Scope and descriptive statistics
• Section 2: Analysis
• Section 3: Recommendations and Implementation

Section 1 – Scope and descriptive statistics

• State the reports objective.
• Discuss the nature of the current database. What variables were analyzed?
• Summarize your descriptive statistics findings from Excel. Use a table and insert appropriate graphs.

Section 2 – Analysis 

• Using Excel, create scatter plots and display the regression equations for the following pairs of variables:
• BachDeg% versus Sales/SqFt
• MedIncome versus Sales/SqFt
• MedAge versus Sales/SqFt
• LoyaltyCard(%) versus SalesGrowth(%)
• In your report, include the scatter plots. For each scatter plot, designate the type of relationship observed (increasing/positive, decreasing/negative, or no relationship) and determine what you can conclude from these relationships.

Section 3: Recommendations and implementation

• Based on your findings above, assess which expansion criteria seem to be more effective. Could any expansion criterion be changed or eliminated? If so, which one and why?
• Based on your findings above, does it appear as if the Loyalty Card is positively correlated with sales growth? Would you recommend changing this marketing strategy?
• Based on your previous findings, recommend marketing positioning that targets a specific demographic. (Hint: Are younger people patronizing the restaurants more than older people?)
• Indicate what information should be collected to track and evaluate the effectiveness of your recommendations. How can this data be collected? (Hint: Would you use survey/samples or census?)

Part 2 Annotated Bibliography, Action Plan, and Measurement (50 points/ %) 

• There are three components in Part 2.
• APA Style Referencing is encouraged.
• Length requirement: no fewer than 2, no more than 4 pages (Times New Roman, 12 pt, double spaced)

1. Annotated bibliography

Locate and use at least four credible, external sources (library, internet) to find solutions to your problem (author or publication should have relevant credentials). Submit an annotated bibliography that summarizes relevant findings from each source.  An annotated bibliography is a word document that lists the full citation of each source followed by a summary in your own words of the relevant information found within that document. Citation should include author, title, date, publisher or publication. Include web address if a website.  Scholar.google.com provides this information if you search and select cite link below it. Summaries can be in bullets or paragraph form.

1. Action plan

Document a step-by-step action plan for addressing the problem or challenge selected. Action plans should incorporate and apply what youve learned from your personal research (as documented in the annotated bibliography). Each action step should include a target due date. The steps of the action plan (or at least most of them) should conclude before the deadline for Part 3 so that you have feedback to provide on how successful or unsuccessful it was. No fewer than 4 steps. These should be documented as a workplan (a table in word or excel; at a minimum includes action step and target due date).

1. Quantitative metrics

Document at least two key quantitative metrics you can use to assess how successful (or not) your action plan proves to be in resolving the challenge. This metric should be observable and measurable (e.g. interviews scheduled if looking for internship, % change in assignment grades if increasing GPA). If multiple people were asked to observe and track the metric, they should get the same score (you do not need to get multiple people to measure its just a good question to ask yourself to assess whether your measure is quantifiable and easy to be expressed in numeric indicators).

Grading for Part 2 will be assessed based on the following criteria:

• Are all stated requirements met?
• Did the student identify and thoroughly review at least 4 unique and credible (avoid personal blogs or obscure websites look for author or journal / publisher credentials) resources that accurately relate to the OB theory and topic at hand?
• Is the action plan clearly related to the OB theory used, and does it apply new learnings to solving the problem?
• Is the action plan actionable? Are there clear steps and dates identified that are doable during the semester?
• Is the measurement plan actionable, quantifiable and clearly related to the action plan? Does it include target, desired metrics?
• NOTE: Any late submissions will lose 20% of the possible points earned each day late. No credit will be given for assignments submitted more than 5 days late.

Need to write in a memo format to your manager or senior officer identifying the need for 3D printing for your company addressing their need of five basic criteria and five desirable criteria. Then at the end provide a recommendation for at least two. Most have at least 3-to 4 sources. The format is provided in the attached document as well as the example of the memo. Each Wednesday you will turn in a reflection memo, with your personal reactions to the course material. You should use this exercise as an opportunity to integrate course material with your own life and experiences, and for you to give me feedback on how the course is going for you. The content of the memos should focus on both the course material and your experiences but are otherwise open to you. For example, you might discuss your reaction to class discussions, films, lectures, or readings, report on an event in your life or conversations youve had with friends and family about course material. These are not reading or lecture summaries. Your reflection memos should be no less than a paragraph but no more than a page

Many infectious diseases are multifactorial, meaning they are caused by the interaction of several factors inside and outside the person. For an infection to occur, three key conditions, known as the epidemiological triad of disease must be met. Using approximately 600-800 words, and use APA 7th edition citations and referencing as appropriate:

• What are pathogens and how do pathogens gain entry?
• Explain how your immune system protects you, what factors diminish its effectiveness and what can you do to boost its effectiveness.

Choose an MNC of any nationality and analyze how it adapts its operations overseas. Collect information from books, company reports, newspapers, business magazines, and websites. Subject to information availability, your discussion may include but is not limited to, adaptations related to:

• Product or service
• Human resource management
• Marketing and advertising
• Supply chain management
• Organization structure
• Production process

Your discussion should focus on the reasons why the MNC adapts or does not adapt with respect to an aspect of the operation. Try to incorporate in your report the concepts learned in this course. List all references at the end of the report. As long as the references are listed in a consistent manner, there is no specific style you need to follow. Plagiarism will be severely penalized.
