BUS 639 WK3

Being a champion of change means promoting exploratory efforts and leading or supporting product evaluations to address inefficiency within the organization. This might be done by suggesting alternative technologies or processes, and by being a proponent of pilot testing promising solutions or software options in a live environment, such as volunteering to pilot test possible candidate technologies within ones own department.

Today, you are the CFO of DargeanGrix, Inc. If needed, review the document. Youve identified an area in the organization in which you think things can be improved, and you have an idea about how this can be done. Consider how you would champion this change, and think about what you would need to present to your collegues in senior management in order to make the case for exploring the idea for the change in DargeanGrix.

Make a video argument to your senior leader peers, and present your reasoning for your improvement idea. Discuss the change, technology, or new process that the idea entails. Post the completed video to the discussion forum. You may include a slide presentation to supplement your video argument.

The video should be at least 3 minutes and no more than 5 minutes in length and cover the following elements:

  • Explain your idea for improving a DargeanGrix process.
  • Explain how your idea would help improve the process, department, or organization.
  • Explain why your idea can help move the organization or department forward.
  • Discuss what you are willing to do to support the exploration of the idea (e.g., research the possibilities, be the pilot test department, lend team members to the project development, etc.).
    • Explain how these elements will help provide additional information or other possibilities for improving the process, department, or organization.

Your goal in the video is to sell the idea to your senior leader colleagues and create buy-in for exploring your idea and your approach.

Instructions for recording or uploading a video:

  • Write a script. Name and save your script as a Word document. (The script will be used for reference while you record your video and may be used as a transcript for accessibility purposes.)
  • Paste your script within your initial post in this discussion forum.

Foundations of Emergency Management

Question: Why is evacuation planning so difficult? What kinds of things can go wrong during an actual evacuation? What do you think can be done to minimize these potential setbacks?

Instructions:

There are a few important rules to observe during the Group Discussion process: 1) no profanity or offensive language; 2) no personal attacks, and 3) be courteous and professional when you respond to one of your classmates – part of the education process involves disagreeing without being disagreeable, which is not synonymous with disrespect. However, if I read something that I don’t think is appropriate, then I will immediately remove it from the forum.

The following are the four (4) grade ingredients for each Group Discussion throughout the Semester:

First, choose a topic, conduct research, and write at least three (3) good paragraphs in your response.

Second, always include your personal perspective and comment on the subject matter of the topic you have chosen to discuss. Do not merely define the topic/subject matter.

Third, always be sure to cite a legitimate reference source related to your research findings – it’s ok to submit a direct quote but be sure to cite the reference in a formal APA (7th edition) bibliography format at the end of the assignment. The course textbook Introduction to Emergency Management (Haddow, 2020 / 7th edition), is acceptable as a reference, as you bought it and should use it accordingly. Again, however, be sure to cite other relevant sources. DO NOT simply cut/paste information, nor ever use Wikipedia, or you will reap what you sow!

Fourth, late submissions will not be accepted and will result in loss of grade points for the course.

Journal 215

Overview

In this journal activity, you will explore the ways in which use of language influences perceptions of human behavior.

Scenario

To better understand the elements that shape our view of human abnormality, Jamal has begun to reflect on his own lived experiences. During Jamals adolescence, no element seemed more powerful to him than language. Jamal clearly recalls boys taunting him as he prepared for gym class, Hey freak, youre in the wrong locker room! Likewise, when boys and girls would disperse into gender-specific groups, Jamal often found himself gravitating toward the girls because they didnt appear to be as mean as the boys; however, his female peers felt that he was too weird to be included in their clique. For Jamal, these emotionally painful events caused him to experience feelings of confusion, ostracism, isolation, and despair.

For as long as he can recall, Jamal has had difficulty identifying with societys views of gender and sexuality. He has never felt as though he is singularly male or female; these categories have simply never aligned with his idealized self-concept. Likewise, Jamal has never felt as though he was exclusively gay. On the contrary, he has always felt as though he could fluidly move between sexual orientations, depending on the situation and context, as though human sexuality existed on a spectrum from heterosexual to homosexual. For these reasons, Jamal has recently begun to identify as bisexual and gender non-binary and, for the first time in his life, feels normal.

The word abnormal carries a lot of humanistic weight. Like a practitioner who is bound by ethical codes of conduct to ensure that no harm is done within the scope of clinical practice, each of us has a moral obligation to ensure that we dont inflict psychological harm on othersintentionally or unintentionallywith the language we use when discussing gender and sexuality. As we learn to value our individual differences, one idea resonates: Its our implicit responsibility to embrace all people with compassion, empathy, and acceptance as they attempt to be what comes most naturally: themselves.

Prompt

The following resources support your work on this activity:

  • : You may use this template to complete the Module Six Activity assignment.
  • : This resource was created to help you find psychology related content.

For this journal activity, you will focus on the influence of language on shaping perceptions of human behavior. Specifically, consider how the words we use can have a dramatic positive or negative influence on how we view the biological, psychological, and social orientations of others. Respond to the following prompts with a minimum of 3 to 5 sentences. Address the rubric criteria listed below and support your answers with a credible source when necessary.

  • Describe how the words we use to discuss gender and sexuality shape our perception of what is considered normal or abnormal. Provide an example within your response.
  • Imagine engaging in conversation with family, friends, or colleagues and eventually realizing that they were inadvertently promoting stereotypes about gender or sexuality. Describe the thoughts and feelings that you might experience during such a conversation.
  • Describe the language used within your own culture (e.g., family members, friends, colleagues) when discussing gender and sexuality.

Guidelines for Submission

Submit your completed Module Six Activity Template. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

Case 1 (1 Page) & Case 2 (1.5 page)

Case 1: Using an E-mail Address to Determine a Networks Operating System

Alexander Rocco Corporation has multiple OSs running in its many offices. Before conducting a security test to determine the vulnerabilities you need to correct, you want to determine whether any OSs are running that youre not aware of. Christy Fitzgerald, the network administrator/security officer, is resistant to giving you information after he learns youre there to discover network security vulnerabilities. He sees you as a threat to his position. After several hours of interviews, you can ascertain only that Mikes personal e-mail address is [email protected], and an old RHEL server is running on one of the companys systems. Based on this information, answer the following questions:

Questions:

a. What tools might you use after learning Mikes e-mail address?

b. What can you determine by entering Mikes e-mail address into Google? What about just the handle vetman2601?

c. Could the information you learned from Google be used to conduct vulnerability testing?

d. Write a memo to the IT manager, Bob Jones, about the potential issues with running a old RHEL 5.8 server, and mention the importance of patch hygiene. Make sure your memo explains how you gathered this information and offers constructive feedback. Your memo shouldnt point a finger at any company employees; it should discuss problems on a general level.

Case 2: Using Dumpster-Diving Skills

You have observed that Alexander Rocco Corporation uses Alikas Cleaning Company for its janitorial services. The companys floors are vacuumed and mopped each night, and the trash is collected in large bins placed outside for pickup on Tuesdays and Fridays. You decide to visit the dumpster Thursday evening after the cleaning crew leaves. Wearing surgical gloves and carrying a large plastic sheet, you place as much of the trash on the sheet as possible. Sorting through the material, you find the following items: a company phone directory; a Windows NT training kit; 23 outdated Oracle magazines; notes that appear to be programs written in HTML, containing links to a SQL Server database; 15 company memos from key employees; food wrappers; an empty bottle of expensive vodka; torn copies of several resumes; an unopened box of new business cards; and an old pair of womens running shoes.

Question

a. Based on this information, write a report explaining the relevance these items have. What recommendations, if any, might you give to Alexander Rocco management?

Normalization of human trafficking

Do an internet search and analyze the lyrics of a song that glamorizes/glorifies pimping, and/or the acceptance of the objectification of women, and/or the normalization of human trafficking.

1) Somewhere at the top of your page, indicate the name of the song and the artist. You must include a link to the lyrics of the song within the assignment.

2) Discuss your interpretation of the song. Questions to address in your response:

  • Discuss the use of terms or phrases that signal the acceptance of the objectification of women, glamorize pimping, or normalize human trafficking
  • Discuss the power dynamics at play here
  • Discuss any inequality, oppression, and/or discrimination at play
  • Discuss if and how these problems are value-laden

For example, if they are mentioned, discuss how the terms pimp or hoe are used in the music lyrics. Is the way they are used problematic? What does the use of these words imply? Does the use of the words suggest the normalization of human trafficking? If these words aren’t used, what other term(s) or phrase(s) may be used that suggest the same thing?

3) What role do male consumers have in perpetrating popular culture through music lyrics that marginalize, victimize, and oppress women?

4) Explain the oppression and exploitation presented in the song lyrics through the lens of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality (gender, race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status, nativity, immigration status, and others). This is your chance to show me that youve done the reading. The more connections you make to the text, the more points you will earn for this question. Your connections to the text should be strong, specific, and numerous.

In addition to using the textbook, you must also properly use two (2) academic sources.

Selecting a Research Topic

Select a topic for your paper and discuss why you are interested in writing a paper on this topic.  Your brief assignment should be double-spaced/ 1 inch margins all around/ use 12 pt. font.  Use library and internet research to help you decide on a research topic.  Start collecting journal articles on your chosen topic

Discussion 5

Assessments

It is imperative that Human Service Professionals take into consideration all that is known about the client/family when identifying appropriate interventions. Assessments are used to gather information about the client/family. Please use the assigned readings and use the Library to research peer-reviewed studies to support your post.

Please respond to the following:

  • Identify at least three different assessment tools discussed in Chapter 6.
  • Pick one of the tools you identified and thoroughly discuss the tool. Include in your discussion the type of information the tool collects, when the tool should be used, whether or not the tool is easy or difficult to use, and whether or not this tool should be used with an individual, a family, a group, or if the tool is appropriate to use with all three.

homework

I need a 350-word minimum reflection on the MIDDLE and HOMEWARD PASSAGE and address the question, How does learning about the Transatlantic better our understanding of the formation of colonial America?

1) Read the provided YAWP readings.

2) Read pages 24 27, 76 78, and 95 97 of the US History online text.

3) Review the videos and presentation provided.

4) Read the following: From the Zinn Education Project, posted November 29, 2017:

“On Nov. 29, 1781, on a ship heading for Jamaica, the Zong massacre occurred. The captain gave the order to throw 54 enslaved Africans overboard. Another 78 were drowned over the next two days. By the time the ship had reached the Caribbean, 132 persons had been murdered. When the ship returned to England the owners wished to be compensated the full value for each enslaved African lost. The claim might have been honored if it had not been Olaudah Equiano (also known as Gustavus Vassa), who had once been enslaved. While living in England, he learned of the tragedy and alerted an abolitionist friend. The case went to court. At first the jury ruled in favor of the ship’s owners. Since it was permissible to kill animals for the safety of the ship, they decided, it was permissible to kill enslaved people for the same reason. The insurance company appealed, and the case was retried. This time the court decided that the Africans on board the ship were people.”

Consult the sources provided and take detailed notes. In your notes, answer the following questions:

1.    Where did this portion of the Transatlantic slave trade occur?

2.    What occurred during the portion of the Transatlantic Slave Trade?

3.    Who was involved?
