After much labor and management conflict, and over 25 unions created . Today, it is considered a model of union and labor partnerships for the future of labor and management relations. This collaboration involved over 90,000 workers and changed the fabric of union and management relationships. Instead of being a competitive bargaining process, it became a collaborative partnership of mutual respect to a goal of mutual gains. The collaboration resulted in improved services (increased patient satisfaction), improved financial results, and happier employees. Many are encouraging this model to become a standard for future union and management negotiations.

Develop an 810 PowerPoint presentation that addresses the following:

  • Describe the unions that were part of this partnership including the type of union (craft, industrial, general, white collar) and whether it is a federal or local union.
  • What is the value of having union members participate in decision-making?
  • What was the advantage of using a coalition or team-based approach?
  • A continuous improvement strategy was used in this case, describe this strategy and how it relates to the focus of the coalition.
  • Provide an example of how the model of labor-management relations used in this case could be applied in a different industry.

HRMT420 UNIT 3 IP

Traditionally, the activities of labor unions have supported the development of gains for the American worker. As labor unions negotiate with management, those gains set a standard for other non-union organizations. The U.S. has enacted a number of laws that protect workers such as the Civil Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. In this assignment, you will explore some of the major U.S. labor laws.

Prepare an 8001000 words that addresses following:

  • What is a yellow dog contract as described in the NorrisLaGuardia Act of 1932?
  • What was the purpose of the Wagner act of 1935?
  • Compared to the NorrisLaGuardia Act of 1932 and the Wagner Act of 1935, what impact did the TaftHartley Act of 1947 have on labor unions?
  • Do employment laws replace the need for labor unions? Are these acts still relevant in today’s business environment? Why or why not?

HRMT420 UNIT 2 DB

write 450600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Many of the major US labor laws governing unions arose in the early 1930s, however, unions existed well before this time. In fact, labor unions can trace their history, in some form, back to medieval craft guilds. Thus, organizing members of a profession to address issues within an industry has played a great role in the development of modern business practices. There is great value in studying the history of organized labor.

For this assignment, discuss the following with your classmates:

  • In your opinion, what were the major issues in labor-management relations in the US before 1930? What role did the industrial revolution play in labor-management relations during this time period?
  • How were these issues addressed differently in the US before modern employment laws were enacted
  • Historically, what role has the HR profession played in labor-management relations and the development of US employment laws?  Should that role change, if so how?

Once you start to understand how exciting the world of statistics can be, it is tempting to fall into the trap of chasing statistical significance. That is, you may be tempted always to look for relationships that are statistically significant and believe they are valuable solely because of their significance. Although statistical hypothesis testing does help you evaluate claims, it is important to understand the limitations of statistical significance and to interpret the results within the context of the research and its pragmatic, real world application.

Recovery Strategies TACC

Write a 2-3 page article review in which you discuss the legal issues brought against an employer and how the organization managed to recover from the charges brought against it.

Introduction

An organization’s public image is very important. The values and missions of the company serve as a statement to the public regarding how it seeks to operate. The company wants to avoid negative publicity about employment-related legal issues, like discrimination or harassment, because it can have a damaging effect on the organization’s reputation. When this occurs, HR practitioners and managers need to identify an effective recovery strategy as soon as possible. This is important, because the company needs to limit any negative exposure, but also to ensure that the organization is operating according to its values and missions.

Conduct research using the Capella University Library, a trusted Internet resource, or a business magazine or journal to find an article on the topic of a company experiencing legal issues related to workplace discrimination, unfair labor practices, or unethical behavior. This source should also describe the organization’s approach in managing and recovering from the charges brought against it.

Then, write a 23-page article review in which you discuss the following:

  • Identify the legal issues and the charges brought against the company.
  • Describe the organization’s approach to managing and recovering from the charges brought against it.
  • Include your analysis of the organization’s approach to managing and recovering from the charges. Identify whether you would or would not have handled the recovery using the same strategy, and include a supporting rationale.
