InfoTech Mobile

  • The first iPhone was revealed at the Mac World conference in early January 2007, and later released in June of that year. Initially, third-party native applications were not allowed. Apple products have created a unique brand value within society.  Their products do not support third party applications, thus providing additional layers of security from social engineering and malware attacks.
    • How has the use of core ideas such as location and orientation-aware pushed iPhone beyond its web browser and tightly integrated web functionalities?
    • Why are Plists (property lists) the easiest way to store information on Macs?
    • Discuss the benefits of using Xcode for developing iOS apps.

Garbage . . . Not Just The Work But The Outcomes, Too

In an effort to cut costs, Albuquerque city officials decided to stop paying their garbage collectors for working overtime. This decision had a noticeable impact on the quality of their performance. This exercise is important because managers must consider how decisions about the financial health of a company can impact the quality of performance among its employees.

The goal of this exercise is to draw the connection between consequences and performance outcomes.

Read the case about trash collection crews in Albuquerque getting paid for only eight hours of work, then using the 3-step problem-solving approach, answer the questions that follow.

City officials in Albuquerque, New Mexico, needed to cut costs. Among the targets they identified was overtime pay of trash collectors. The officials decided to pay trash collection crews for eight hours of work no matter how long it actually took them to finish their routes. The hope was that the crews would work more efficiently and quickly, given that they could then go home early and still get paid for eight hours of work.

This PM practice seemed like a success, and overtime costs dropped significantly. However, unintended consequences emerged. Crews overloaded their trucks to reduce the time they spent going to the dump, but strict weight limits resulted in fines when they arrived. So they drove faster, which resulted in more tickets and accidents. Sometimes they skipped trash pickups and truck maintenance, which generated customer complaints and more frequent vehicle breakdowns.1

Apply the 3-Step Problem Solving Approach

Step 1: Define the problem city officials wanted to fix.

Step 2: Identify the potential causes of this problem. (Consider also the common reasons rewards fail to motivate.)

Step 3: Make your recommendations.

The following short articles highlight the power of explaining concepts to others and responding to their anticipated questions. Teaching as an authentic practice exercise is nearly as effective as actually teaching others. The Feynman Technique is simple and intuitive. If you apply it regularly throughout your doctoral program, it will become second nature.

Debate This: Carriers liability

Debate This: Carriers liability

Vanessa Denai owned forty acres of land in rural Louisiana. On the property were a 1,600-square-foot house and a metal barn. Denai met Lance Finney, who had been seeking a small plot of rural property to rent. After several meetings, Denai invited Finney to live on a corner of her land in exchange for Finneys assistance in cutting wood and tending her property. Denai agreed to store Finneys sailboat in her barn.

With Denais consent, Finney constructed a concrete and oak foundation on Denais property and purchased a 190-square-foot dome from Dome Baja for $3,395. The dome was shipped by Doty Express, a transportation company licensed to serve the public. When it arrived, Finney installed the dome frame and fabric exterior so that the dome was detachable from the foundation. A year after Finney installed the dome, Denai wrote Finney a note stating, Ive decided to give you four acres of land surrounding your dome as drawn on this map. This gift violated no local land-use restrictions. Using the information presented in the chapter, answer the following questions.

  1. Is the dome real property or personal property? Explain.
  2. Is Denais gift of land to Finney a gift causa mortis or a gift inter vivos?
  3. What type of bailment relationship was created when Denai agreed to store Finneys boat? What degree of care was Denai required to exercise in storing the boat?
  4. What standard of care applied to the shipment of the dome by Doty Express?

5.Debate This: Common carriers should not be able to limit their liability.

Debate This: Property condemnation

Debate This: Property condemnation

Vern Shoepke bought a two-story home in Roche, Maine. The warranty deed did not specify what covenants would be included in the conveyance. The property was adjacent to a public park that included a popular Frisbee golf course. (Frisbee golf is a sport similar to golf but using Frisbees.) Wayakichi Creek ran along the north end of the park and along Shoepkes property. The deed allowed Roche citizens the right to walk across a five-foot-wide section of the lot beside Wayakichi Creek as part of a two-mile public trail system. Teenagers regularly threw Frisbee golf discs from the walking path behind Shoepkes property over his yard to the adjacent park. Shoepke habitually shouted and cursed at the teenagers, demanding that they not throw the discs over his yard.

Two months after moving into his Roche home, Shoepke leased the second floor to Lauren Slater for nine months. The lease agreement did not specify that Shoepkes consent would be required to sublease the second floor. After three months of tenancy, Slater sublet the second floor to a local artist, Javier Indalecio. Over the remaining six months, Indalecios use of oil paints damaged the carpeting in Shoepkes home. Using the information presented in the chapter, answer the following questions.

  1. What is the term for the right of Roche citizens to walk across Shoepkes land on the trail?
  2. What covenants would most courts infer were included in the warranty deed that Shoepke received when he bought his house?
  3. Can Shoepke hold Slater financially responsible for the damage to the carpeting caused by Indalecio? Explain.
  4. Could the fact that teenagers continually throw Frisbees over Shoepkes yard outside the second-floor windows arguably be a breach of the covenant of quiet enjoyment? Why or why not?

5.Debate This: Under no circumstances should a local government be able to condemn property in order to sell it later to real estate developers for private use.

Due Sunday/assignment from last week copied and paste at bottom of question

QUESTION:Based upon your Week 1 Assignment survey results, write a brief report  assessing the adoption response of your targeted population to the determinants (antecedents); i.e. Advantage, Compatibility, Complexity, Trialability, Observability, of your product (or service). What does the data tell you about the targeted population’s perception of your innovation?

LAST WEEK ASSIGNMENT: Technological Innovation Provide a brief excerpt of your Innovation Technology The Yard House is a resturant/Bar and Grille it is a very well known sports bar in the Virginia/Washington Dc area. Sports bars like Hooters, which have a long-standing choice as a more update version of your standard sports bar, are among its competitor The Yard House provides a more laid back casual  sports bar atomosphere that is unique to Virginia and is as near to a local bar  as a franchise can provide. It  does lack Hooters’ modern atmosphere and younger target census. Even though Covid-19 is still hurting some restaurant, it is bad to look into new and gifted methods to provide the exposure to the homes of both new and previous target customers. Virtual restaurant concepts such as  A Virtual Toast may assist The Yard House in providing the sports bar experience in a previous pandemic condtions. A Virtual tour will allow the  clients to enjoy the satisfacation  of arranging a dinner party on the internet. This requires putting things in order, sending out invitations, arrange and issue  food straight to the guests, and put in place a virtual gathering Even though the complexity of this may not appeal to The  Yard House Customer, a very similiar idea may help them in staying persistent during difficulttimes. For example: Let say The Yard House discovers a effective app that allows customers to order bar food and drinks to be delivered, interact with others dining both virtually and in their local area.

Yard House restaurant during sporting events, and provide other interactive features such as games and streaming of special restaurant events. To look over this use of technology, we may use a set of statements that combine 5 major determinants of change technology spread the rate the relative benefits, compatibility, complexity, trail-ability, and observability of adopting a virtual eating app. Prior to launching a survey, the apps’ uses and advantages should be well examined and considered.

Week 3 Discussion

Test Development Process

Draft a memo in which you outline each of the stages in the development process that the assessment would have to undergo. End your memo with a list of potential problems or issues that you believe would have to be addressed and resolved if the dissociative identity disorder measure were ever to become a widely accepted measure of the disorder.

  • Demonstrate your knowledge of the test development process by serving as an advisor to the would-be-test developer of an assessment that addresses dissociative identity disorder.

Make sure that you address the issues of reliability and validity, ethical dilemmas that might emerge, proper test administration and scoring concerns in your memo. Provide strong evidence for your assertions throughout your memo.

  • Post your response to the Discussion Area by the due date assigned. Respond to at least two posts by the end of the week.
  • Use an APA style reference list with in-text citations in your initial response.
  • Use an APA style reference list with in-text citations in at least one of your two responses to classmates.
