1) Recent politics and the environment. As has been evidenced during the recent transition of power the political affiliation of an elected official can (at times) dramatically alter the ability of a government agency to operate as it has heretofore done.
A. Citing two sources describe a recent political situation that affected an environmentally minded organizations daily functioning.
B. What did the elected official do that impacted the agency? In your opinion was it within his/her rights to do so? Is there any evidence that the actions were constitutionally acceptable? How do we know?
2) Historical politics and the environment. Research the nature of politics and the environment from an historical perspective.
A. Are any groups parties or sects historically politically averse to environmentally friendly legislation? Please identify which groups exist? Do any common roadblocks exist prohibiting the passage of laws that are protective in nature of the environment?
B. Based on your research what level of evidence is needed to warrant and/or substantiate a conversation toward the passage or more strict or relaxing regulations?
