Assignment: Analyzing Group Techniques

Group therapy can alleviate feelings of isolation and foster a supportive and collaborative environment for sharing difficult feelings in order to facilitate healing. For many people, being part of a group that has a shared understanding of a struggle provides a unique opportunity to gain understanding of their own experiences.

Company exploration research (Avaya)

Be sure to use this article as well as any materials in the company’s website.

Avaya offers several contact center suites, but its two  most prominent are Aura and OneCloud contact center-as-a-service  (CCaaS). These platforms were already quite sufficient, but Avaya added  to them this year. Avaya built in added workflow and AI-powered virtual  agent capabilities on its own, but the company also added security  capabilities through integrations with Pindrop, Semafone, and PCI Pal;  knowledge management through an integration with Verint; and an  integration with Salesforce Service Cloud that brings together calls,  digital engagement, and CRM data for agents. Independent CRM industry  analyst and consultant Marshall Lager sees Avaya as one of the most  deeply rooted vendors in the market. Avayas been doing  telecommunications for a long time and has the expertise that comes with  experience, he says.

HumanisticExistential Therapy

HumanisticExistential Therapy

It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.

Carl Rogers, from On Becoming a Person

This client-centered perspective is the cornerstone of humanistic-existential therapy, which requires therapists to attempt to receive clients with curiosity and openness, endeavor to grasp their subjective world, and believe that clients are the experts on their own experience (Wheeler, 2014, p. 373). As the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, it is important to understand that the effectiveness of this approach is dependent on your relationship with clients, as well as your beliefs on holism and human nature.

This week, you compare humanistic-existential therapy with other approaches and justify its use with individual patients.

Assignment: Comparing Humanistic-Existential Psychotherapy with Other Approaches

Photo Credit: motortion / Adobe Stock

Understanding the strengths of each type of therapy and which type of therapy is most appropriate for each patient is an essential skill of the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. In this Assignment, you will compare humanistic-existential therapy to another psychotherapeutic approach. You will identify the strengths and challenges of each approach and describe expected potential outcomes.

To prepare:

  • Review the      humanistic-existential psychotherapy videos in this weeks Learning      Resources.
  • Reflect on      humanistic-existential psychotherapeutic approaches.
  • Then, select another      psychotherapeutic approach to compare with humanistic-existential      psychotherapy. The approach you choose may be one you previously explored      in the course or one you are familiar with and especially interested      in.

The Assignment

In a 3-page paper, address the following:

  • Briefly describe      humanistic-existential psychotherapy and the second approach you      selected.
  • Explain at least three      differences between these therapies. Include how these differences might      impact your practice as a PMHNP.
  • Focusing on one video you      viewed, explain why humanistic-existential psychotherapy was utilized with      the patient in the video and why it was the treatment of choice. Describe      the expected potential outcome if the second approach had been used with      the patient.
  • Support your response with specific      examples from this weeks media and at least three peer-reviewed,      evidence-based sources. Explain why each of your supporting sources is      considered scholarly. Attach the PDFs of your sources.

Note: The School of Nursing requires that all papers submitted include a title page, introduction, summary, and references. The Sample Paper provided at the Walden Writing Center provides an example of those required elements (available at http://academicguides.waldenu.edu/writingcenter/templates ). In business, sports, politics, and many other fields there are probably  countless situations akin to the prisoner’s dilemma where players acting  in their own self-interest do not produce an ideal outcome. Likewise,  some player dynamics also illustrate other game theory concepts like a  game of chicken, credible threats/commitments, and other similar  concepts. Use at least one article from The Wall Street Journal  to discuss a strategic situation between players that resembled or used  any of the concepts above. What could have any of the players done  differently to achieve a better outcome?

Technical Communication

Part A: Email/Text Problems

What are some of the problems that you have experienced when writing or receiving poorly, perhaps hastily, written emails/texts? Describe at least five (5) types of issues.

Part B: Writing a Process Description

Select a specialized process that you understand well and that has several distinct steps. Using the process description discussed in Chapter 19 of your textbook as a model, write a one page description of this process.

Part C: Difficult to Follow Instructions

Find a short set of instructions or some other technical document from work or the Internet that is hard to follow. Replicate or download those instructions at the top of a one-page analysis. Assume that you are the Associate Director of Communications for the company that produced this document and that you are doing a final review before the document is released. Using the Checklist for Instructions and Procedures on the following page (also found in Chapter 20 of your textbook), identify what, specifically, makes the document difficult to use, providing a specific reference for each problem area.
