What environmental laws are in place in this company’s country of origin?
§ 1989 China adopted the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, an all-encompassing law with grand intentions but no enforcement (“China’s Environmental Law,” 1989)
§ Direct stimulus package in 2008 featuring $205 billion for direct energy efficiency and environmental improvements as well as improvements in rail and electric infrastructure (Seligsohn, 2008).
§ In 2009 outlined a plan to be the largest producer of electric cars (Bradsher, 2009)
§ Amendments passed to current law in 2014 imposing large fines and short term imprisonment for violators, follow up to 1989 law (“China’s new stance,” 2014).
§ Reorganization of the Ministry of Environmental Protection which had been abandoned in 1998 and now brought back (“China’s new policy,” 2013).
