b. Discuss why it is important for the child including how good vs. poor contextual factors (like 
parenting or schools or whatever is most appropriate for your topic) influence the child’s 
development.
B. Overview of Empirical Article 1
a. What research question or questions were the authors trying to answer in their paper?
b. What theory or theories do the authors review in the introduction to their paper?
c. What was the age range of the participants in this study?
d. What did the participants in the study do?
e. What did the authors find from their tests? 
f. What conclusions do the authors draw from their study?
C. Overview of Empirical Article 2
a. What research question or questions were the authors trying to answer in their paper?
b. What theory or theories do the authors review in the introduction to their paper?
c. What was the age range of the participants in this study?
d. What did the participants in the study do?
e. What did the authors find from their tests? 
f. What conclusions do the authors draw from their study?
D. Integration of the two articles toward the “bigger picture” of community needs.
a. What do the two sets of findings mean for the social or psychological or physical lives of real children?
b. Do the two sets of findings suggest one or more “best practices” for how one should raise his or her children or interact with children?
c. What materials in your textbook also suggest that these are best practices?
d. Discuss what you know now that you did not know before, or what was reiterated to you from reading these articles and your textbook on related information.
e. Discuss how the empirical research may contribute to the ultimate value of the brochure in the lives of the parents and children in our community.
