Spiritual Needs Assessment And Reflection

This assignment requires you to interview one person and requires an analysis of your interview experience.

Part I: Interview

Select a patient, a family member, or a friend to interview. Be sure to focus on the interviewee's experience as a patient, regardless of whom you choose to interview.

Please review the following joint commission resource questions

*Who or what provides the patient with strength and hope?

*Does the patient use prayer in their life?

*How does the patient express their spirituality?

*How would the patient describe their philosophy of life?

*What type of spiritual/religious support does the patient desire?

*What is the name of the patient's clergy, ministers, chaplains, pastor, rabbi?

*What does suffering mean to the patient?

*What does dying mean to the patient?

*What are the patient's spiritual goals?

*Is there a role of church/synagogue in the patient's life?

*How does your faith help the patient cope with illness?

*How does the patient keep going day after day?

*What helps the patient get through this health care experience?

*How has illness affected the patient and his/her family?

All these will provide some guidelines for creating spiritual assessment tools for evaluating the spiritual needs of patients. Using this resource and any other guidelines/examples that you can find, create your own tool for assessing the spiritual needs of patients.

Your spiritual needs assessment survey must include about 7 questions that can be answered during the interview. During the interview, document the interviewee's responses.

The transcript should include the questions asked and the answers provided. Be sure to record the responses during the interview by taking detailed notes. Omit specific names and other personal information through which the interviewee can be determined.

Part II: Analysis

Write a 500-750 word analysis of your interview experience. Be sure to exclude specific names and other personal information from the interview. Instead, provide demographics such as sex, age, ethnicity, and religion. Include the following in your response:

1. What went well?

2. Were there any barriers or challenges that inhibited your ability to complete the assessment tool? How would you address these in the future or change your assessment to better address these challenges?

3. How can this tool assist you in providing appropriate interventions to meet the needs of your patient?

4. Did you discover that illness and stress amplified the spiritual concern and needs of your interviewee? Explain your answer with examples.

Submit both the transcript of the interview and the analysis of your results. This should be submitted to one document. The interview transcript is not part of the word count for analysis.

What is Lisa's contributions like after stopping at a certain point, then let whatever the current balance is accrue @ 7% a year?  Check the Coffee House Chatroom for samples….Make sure you check out the accompanying IRA Help Video in your Week 6 Course Shell..

Regarding the IRA homework samples – many of you are going to ask yourself – are we all going to have the same answers? The answer is – you will have similar ones, however I want you to understand the concept behind it. You are using a retirement financial product – IRA and see how it is applied in a real life exercise. Before you handle this problem – it is a good idea to understand how an IRA works.

Here are a couple of websites you can use…

There are three (3) types of textbook based homework items located at the end of each chapter. These include Discussion Questions (DQ), Exercises (E), and Problems (P). Some homework items have been custom created.

Complete the following homework scenario:

· Bob and Lisa are both married, working adults. They both plan for retirement and consider the $ 2,000 annual contribution a must. First, consider Lisa's savings. She began working at age 20 and began making an annual contribution of $ 2,000 at the beginning of the first year with her first year. She makes 13 contributions. She worked until she was 32 and then left full time to have children and stay at home mom. She left her IRA invested and plans to begin drawing from her IRA when she is 65. Bob started his IRA at age 32. The first 12 years of his working career, I used his discretionary income to buy a home, take vacations, and pursue his golfing hobby. At age 32, I made his first $ 2,000 contribution to an IRA, and contributed $ 2,000 every year up to age 65, a total of 33 years / contributions. He plans to retire at age 65 and make withdrawals from his IRA. Both IRA accounts grow at a 7% annual rate. Do not consider any tax effect.

· Write a two to three (2-3) summary in which you:

· Create a chart summarizing the details of the investment for both Bob and Lisa.

Training And Development

The assignment submitted below should be original and APA standard with references cited correctly. If its not I will dispute my the charges for this work.

Unit I Essay

For the Unit I Essay, you will explain organizational learning techniques for today’s HR professionals and how they enhance training and development. Within your essay, address the following points:

 Describe competency models, case-based decision making, and systems thinking.

 Describe why the competencies of the past are not compatible with the competencies of the future for the global organization.

 Explain the competency-based and the traditional approach to training. Select several training models and assess their effectiveness for the global organization. Include training issues faced by the global organization in your

explanation.

Your essay must be at least two pages in length, not including the title and reference page. You are required to use at least one outside source to support your explanation. All sources used, including required readings, must be cited and

referenced according to APA standards.

Reading and Resources

Hi everyone, and welcome to the unit on learning and development in today’s workplace. I would for like you to think about your first few days at any new job you might have had. Did you, as is usually the case, spend much of that time in training? One of the first things most organizations train new folks on is

organizational culture, including strategies to provide these new employees with a better understanding of what the company is about and the role they will play.

It is also quite likely that these first few hours or days of training were, well, less than exhilarating. You can admit it; we are all professionals here. Part of the reason for this may be that the training was broad based and did not address the information you needed to understand about your own area of

responsibility and where you fit within your work group or department. So I ask—can training work at both an organizational and individual level at the same time? Sure it can!

One way to be sure it does work is by using different organizational learning techniques. In his book The Fifth Discipline, Peter Senge discusses five disciplines that interface and support one another in order to create an environment where learning can occur. He says that systems thinking, mental models, personal

mastery, team learning, and a shared vision can be adopted by an organization to create a better learning climate. This unit introduces you to the different kinds of organizational learning. You will be exposed to competency-based models, case-based decision-making, and system thinking to provide a variety of

learning techniques for all employees.

Your reading assignments are composed of cutting-edge information about learning and development and competency models in today’s workplace. You will also review global issues in learning and development as well as the development of HR competencies for the future.

Use the web to research one of those mentioned and share a case or article you found. Briefly summarize the specifics of what the employer did (or what typically happens), the issue(s) involved, damages claimed/awarded (or potential liability), and ways an employer can avoid these problems?

Question 2

Immigration reform is just one of many contentious issues that Congress has been unable or unwilling to resolve. Research the web to find out details of the immigration proposals that have been floated in the past 6 – 12 months. Briefly summarize two or more of these proposals.  Discuss fully how you think any of them, if implemented, would impact a) the industry you work in and  b)the country as a whole. Would you favor any of these proposals…why or why not?

Question 3

Listen to a short NPR audio recording (and/or review the written transcript) on technology's impact on workplace productivity by clicking on the link above. Then, discuss your thoughts and opinions on the record's message. Is the increase on businesses reliance on technology a positive or negative given decreasing workplace productivity? Given technological advances, how might a human resource professional help to improve employee productivity in the workplace?

Key Assignment: Final Draft

The senior leaders at Matrix have asked your supervisor, Annalise, Director of Human Resources, to ensure that a formal document regarding your project of developing a new performance appraisal plan is ready in 1 week. What they want to see is all of the research that you have conducted regarding this process. They want to be fully informed and have again spoken about the trust that they have placed in you. This is quite a complement coming from this group.

Annalise speaks to you about this and praises you for following her 3 key guidance points that she provided to you last week. You developed a detailed Key Assignment first draft. You are very motivated by her comments and those of the senior leaders and are ready to complete this project.

Annalise notifies you that what you will now be preparing is your Key Assignment final draft. She states that you need to add some additional researched information to this document as requested by the senior leaders. This additional information must be detailed. This will be added to your previous document and would make your Key Assignment final draft, titled Comprehensive Performance Management Document. You definitely realize the significance of this assignment.

You also acknowledge the fact that the Key Assignment final draft must flow in a logical and coherent structure with a strong introduction and conclusion.

You initiate research on the additional requested information that must include the following:

Ethical and legal dilemmas associated with "potential bias" within performance appraisal systems
Court case studies (e.g., Albemarle Paper Co. v. Moody)
Absence of adverse impact
Why formal evaluation criteria will ensure a reduction in rater bias and increase legal compliance
Submission of the Comprehensive Performance Management Document:

Review the entire document for any changes and improvements you would like to make.
Ensure this final version of the document is sufficiently detailed to fully meet the assignment requirements for each part of the course.
Please submit your assignment.

For assistance with your assignment, please use your text, Web resources, and all course materials.
