Loyalty To Organizations

It is often said that people today are no longer loyal to organizations. Yet employees are loyal to their direct supervisor. This discussion question asks you to evaluate and apply your understanding of followership theory. Reflect on any techniques for understanding, achieving, and positively applying organizational and personal power and influence as a follower.

When effective leaders leave an organization to move on to another organization, they often take at least one or two employees. Collaboration

6-year-old develops a high fever accompanied by violent vomiting and convulsions while at school. The child is rushed to a nearby hospital. The attending physician makes a diagnosis of meningitis and requests permission from the parents to initiate treatment. Both parents are Christian Scientists, and they insist that no medical treatment be given to the child. The physician initiates treatment anyway, and the parents later sue the physician and the hospital.

In this case, the ethical dilemma can be defined as the decision to begin or abstain from treatment. While the parents are considered the healthcare proxies for their child, making the decision to refuse treatment in the case of meningitis is more than likely lethal as bacterial meningitis has a fatality rate of up to 70% (Castillo et. al, 2012). On the other hand, treating the child without proper consent from the parents would violate the principle of informed consent, and in some ways autonomy, while opening up the facility to legal action, which is later taken.

Most people perceive international public administration to be a set of state structures, institutions, and processes. Opponents of globalization argue that it weakens states, making it difficult for them to sustain social welfare and environmental policies, and create fiscal re distributive initiatives.

According to James Bovard, a libertarian author who focuses on writing about government, proponents and businesses seeking to expand a broad claim there is little or no evidence of national governments' decline. Congress, along with many policy strategists, seem to think that whatever the effects of globalization on governments, they are likely to be beneficial for long-term economic growth (Bovard, 1987).

Analyze the claims laid out in this controversy, and try to argue the strongest case you can in favor of the view(s) you find most convincing. In doing so, be sure to seriously consider the case that your opponents might make against your position, and why you would reject it.
