Case Report: Hepatitis B

Description

Hi! This a case report I have written on a patient with chronic Hepatitis B. English is not my first language, so the style/writing throughout the report needs to be thoroughly revised. (It currently does not read smoothly or flow well at all.) Ultimately, I would like the paper completely revised to produce a much more eloquent and cohesive picture of this case. Please focus on grammar, word choice, sentence structure/order, flow and style. The format of the case report is already done as required, so please do not change/reorder the headings. However, please feel free to add additional information or discussion to any section of the paper; it would be much appreciated! Additionally, if you think any part of the paper would benefit from a chart, graph or other illustration, please add this into the case report. Chapter 1 – Quiz 1

 

Instructions:  There are three (3) topic areas listed below that are designed to measure your knowledge level specific to learning outcome (LO 1) shown in your course syllabus. You must select any two of these topic areas and provide appropriate responses in essay form. In most cases the topic area has several components. For example, to describe does not mean to list, but to tell about or illustrate in more than two or three sentences, providing appropriate arguments for your responses using theories discussed in our text.  Be sure to address all parts of the topic question as most have multiple parts. A verifiable current event (less than 4 years old) relevant to at least one of the topics you respond to is a fundamental component of your quiz as well.  You cannot use information from the text book or any book/article by the author of the text book as a current event.  Make sure that your reference has a date of publication.  For each chapter quiz and final quiz you are required to find and include at least one reference and reference citation to a current event less than 4 years old (a reference with no date (n.d.) is not acceptable) in answer to at least one question.  This requires a reference citation in the text of your answer and a reference at the end of the question to which the reference applies.  You must include some information obtained from the reference in your answer.  The references must be found on the internet and you must include a URL in your reference so that the reference can be verified.

     Having been born and raised in the Philippines prior to moving to the US, I have witnessed first-hand the differences in culture and how it can affect business. Culture is defined as “characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts”. (Culture, n.d.). These differences make a country unique, affect customer-buying decisions and reflect in their day to day living. (Rothaermel, 2017, p. 340). Language is often one of the major differences between cultures; however, it is less of a barrier in the Philippines than might be expected. In the PI, Filipino is the official language and there are thousands of dialects spoken, Tagalog being the most popular. I remember that from Kindergarten to college, English was taught. As it is an integral part of school curriculums, most people are able to communicate in English, making it unnecessary for visitors to learn the Filipino language and allowing for normal business relationships with most westernized cultures that also speak English.     

 

     In my opinion, a larger difference between the two cultures lies in the Power-Distance relationship.  The Philippines, a hierarchal society, ranks high in this category, scoring 94 as opposed to the United States which scores a 40. Traditionally, Americans are much more offended by the notion of inequality and display an urge to fight for balance of power. A comparison of these scores shows that Americans in the Philippines may have difficulty adjusting to what they perceive as unfair, specifically regarding relationship between management and labor in the work place (Country comparison, 2019).     

 

     Another major area of difference is Individualism. Individualism is a measure of the independence each member of a society has from its society; the right to determine one’s own destiny. The Philippines, as most Asian cultures, is a collectivist society. Both, from a familial and societal standpoint, Filipino people are likely to sacrifice personal desires to conform to the norms of the group for a greater good. With regards to the work place, this difference may manifest in the way an American may move from job to job in search of promotion whereas a Filipino is likely to remain loyal to a particular company (Country comparison, 2019).
