8310 Dis 1 week 1

As you make your way through the readings and resources for this weeks Discussion, you begin to realize that social and political forces as well as scientific curiosity shaped the development of modern qualitative research. These readings also make it clear that qualitative research is not a single, homogenous endeavor. Rather, qualitative researchers:

come from a variety of disciplines,
engage their objects of study from multiple perspectives,
present their results in numerous formats,
extend scientific knowledge beyond the confines of the experiment or survey,
engage the audience to be self-reflective, and
potentially illuminate opportunities for social change.
This weeks course of study provides you with a contextual understanding of qualitative research, which will form the foundation for understanding the methods and rationale. These will also help you begin a thoughtful process for considering the choice of qualitative research as your methodology for your doctoral research.
For this Discussion, you will explore the foundations and history of qualitative research methods. You also will consider the unique characteristics that distinguish qualitative research from other forms of inquiry.
To prepare for this Discussion:
Review the Learning Resources related to qualitative research and consider the reasons researchers choose qualitative research methods for exploring a phenomenon of interest.
Use the Course Guide and Assignment Help in the Learning Resources to help you search for other books, encyclopedias, or articles that introduce and describe qualitative research.

The Great Gatsby book/movie comparison

Upon release of the 2013 film remake of The Great Gatsby, several critics argued that the modern depiction of the classic text by F. Scott Fitzgerald simply did not do the novel justice. In film: symbols, themes, characters, setting, and conflicts are depicted in a much different way than in a full length text. Now that you have completed your own analysis, it is your responsibility to argue, as a critic, whether the modern depiction of the film maintains the integrity of the classic novel The Great Gatsby.

In your essay be sure to
Identify whether you believe the film maintains the integrity of the text
Analyze how the film and text are different, and how these differences either maintain or destroy the integrity of the text
Include specific examples from the text (pg) and the film to support your argument
Address symbolism, theme, setting, character, and/or conflict in your analysis
Maintain a formal style of writing
MLA Format (Times New Roman, 12pt font, Double Spaced)
3-4 full pages

Discuss specifically the key drivers for the change in demand along with the steps that were taken and the expected impact. Be sure to provide any URLs you used as a reference source for your answer. The selected article must provide well-rounded information and address the topic. You must post the annotation in the reference section.

Post must be at least 350 words and contain at least 3 references.

NRNP 6635 Discussion 1

Discussion: Factors That Influence the Development of Psychopathology

In many realms of medicine, objective diagnoses can be made: A clavicula is broken.  An infection is present. TSH levels meet the diagnostic criteria for hypothyroidism. Psychiatry, on the other hand, deals with psychological phenomena and behaviors. Can these, too, be defined objectively and by scientific criteria (Gergen, 1985), or are they social constructions? (Sadock et al., 2015).

Thanks to myriad advances during recent decades, we know that psychopathology is caused by many interacting factors. Theoretical and clinical contributions to the field have come from the neural sciences, genetics, psychology, and social-cultural sciences. How do these factors impact the expression, classification, diagnosis, and prevalence of psychopathology, and why might it be important for a nurse practitioner to take a multidimensional, integrative approach?

  • Review this weeks Learning Resources, considering the many interacting factors that contribute to the development of psychopathology.
  • Consider how theoretical perspective on psychopathology impacts the work of the PMHNP.

Explain the biological (genetic and neuroscientific); psychological (behavioral and cognitive processes, emotional, developmental); and social, cultural, and interpersonal factors that influence the development of psychopathology.

Explanation of important principles related to grief and loss and how these were taken into account when designing the group
Description of the structure and function of the group you planned
Explanation of how diversity and culture was taken into account when developing this group
Explanation of how you would engage the group members
Explanation of how you would assess functioning and dynamics
Explanation of intervention that would be provided in the group, including reasons for sharing the 3-5 recommended resources for the group.
Explanation of how you would evaluate group outcomes

Global Issue Policy Analysis

Policy analysis is a formal process in which the analyst assesses policy options aimed at solving an existing problem. Before you start, review this chapter and the instructions below, so you can choose a global challenge that fits the requirements of the assignment.
Instructions

Download the Week 10 Policy Analysis Template [DOCX]. It provides additional instructions for the assignment and space for you to add the assignment content. The assignment content should be at least four pages.
Policy Analysis Question: Communication of the problem and the goal to find a potential solution.
