Answering Questions

Very small assignment—-

On January 1, 2006 Joan James purchased five 7.2% semi-annual bonds with twenty years to maturity. The maturity value of each bond is $1000 and it makes its coupon payments on June 30 and December 31 of each year. At the time of the purchase, the bonds’ yield to maturity was 7.8%. On 1/1/2012, Joan sells the bonds, which are now yielding 4.6%.

Answer the following questions:

What is the purchase price of the bonds?
What is the sell price of the bonds?
What nominal rate of return did Joan receive on this investment i.e., what is her holding period yield? Hint: you must consider the time value of money when answering this question.
When Joan purchased the bond, its yield to maturity was 7.8%. Why is her holding period yield different than 7.8%?
If the average inflation rate over this holding period was 3.1%, what was Joan’s real rate of return using the Fisher equation 5.2 in your text1?
1 Equation 5.2: 1 + R = (1+r) (1+h) where R = nominal rate of return, r = real rate of return, and h = the inflation rate.

MiniPaper

Using Beth Schulman’s Betrayal of Work, as well as the information in your Text book, please answer the following:

Explain the principle thesis of the book.

Explain how (and whether) the material in the book, as well as Chapters 10-12 of your text book, supports or refutes Shulman’s original thesis?

What specific examples, data and illustration (meaning the people she uses as examples) best represent the author’s thesis, explain how and whether they do.

What are the books strengths, weaknesses. What elements did you find most compelling? Least compelling and why.

What is your own experience, or those around you, with many of the issues she addresses in the book. Give examples and be specific.

In your own opinion, using what you know about these issues, what might be a way of solving many of the problems that low wage workers in America face today.

2.For each of the 9 basic threat patterns list two of the controls that the report suggests are best to safeguard against each threat.
3.Is there any common control that you noticed? If so, please describe it.
4.Describe the most important thing you learned from this report.

Content Analysis of the iPhone 7

Instructions:

Write a five page paper on the design, application, statistical analysis, and interpretation of a content analysis. This content analysis is conducted on the iPhone 7.

Note: the expectation is you write a paper in a research methods style. This means using citations to support claims, statements, facts or opinions you present. When you write the paper do not write anywhere about the 'assignment' or 'course/class' – although you are writing this paper because of the course you should not mention this in the paper.
Also, do not use the prompts listed below as questions/subheadings in your paper. For example, don't write 'Justify why you selected this issue' in the paper and then answer this question. You answer this question in the course of writing your page 1 just as the articles in the readings you read answer this question without specifically writing 'justify why you selected this issue.'
The paper should be written in APA style. In this paper and other papers in the course you should avoid personal stories about your personal experiences.
Although you worked as a group on the content analysis, each student will submit an individual 5 page paper. If you write less than 4.5 pages you are not making use of the space available to you and will be deducted points. If you write more than 5.5 pages you are writing too much and you will be deducted points. Your paper is therefore expected to be between 4.5 and 5.5 pages in length. This page count does not include the title page, reference page, or any appendix.
An abstract is not needed for this paper.

Page 1-2: Intro
Present a general surface level description of the issue the content will examine (references).
Explain why understanding this case is important (references).
Justify why you selected this issue (references) – do not simply state because the ‘assignment told you to’ or that you are doing ‘what your boss told you.' Instead put reasons related to the importance of products being a good value for the money.
What specific questions are you trying to answer? One of these is “Is the iPhone 7 a good value for the money?" However, you should be able to generate 2-3 more questions based on the other three variables you code for in the method section.

Page 3: Method
Use the attached Method Template to format this section.
Specify four variables you will code for. There should be one manifest variable and three latent variables.
Design a code book for your variables. The detailed code book will be the appendix to your paper and does not count toward the page count. For each latent variable there should be a definition, keywords, and concrete examples.
However, per the method template, much of the information from the code book in the appendix will be repeated in the method.

Page 4: Results
Apply the content analysis – nothing should be shown within the paper itself. The content analysis should be applied to iPhone reviews you identified in Week 10 Checkpoint 1 – remember it is important everyone in the group is analyzing the same reviews.
Code at least 20 reviews for your analysis. One person in the group should upload the reviews coded when they submit their individual paper.
Use statistical analyses you deem appropriate from Week 3 and Week 4 to analyze the data produced by the content analysis.
Present the results of the statistical analyses in APA style. Also, if appropriate, present the results in tables.
There should be no SPSS output anywhere in the paper (this includes any Appendix). Everything your instructor needs from the data is in your APA style write-up or the master SPSS file that is uploaded.

Page 5: Discussion
Explain what your data means.
Offer some tentative explanations as to why you think you found the data you did.
Provide some suggested practical implications from your results.

The theoretical foundations of qualitative and quantitative methods

The theoretical foundations of qualitative and quantitative methods are very different, but many researchers believe both methods should be used in the research study to increase validity and reliability. What advantages or disadvantages do you see in using both types of methods in a nursing study? Support your answer with current evidence-based literature.c
