WORLD RELIGIONS

Answer each of the sub-questions in it so you create at least a 4- or 5-paragraph essay, and again, provide as much detail as time allows – show me what you know!

Question 1: Are all religions basically the same?

Some people say all religions teach basically the same thing. Is this true, or partly true, or false? Defend your answer by searching for:

1. two beliefs shared by at least three of the religions we covered, being sure to choose religions from both the Abrahamic and Dharmic families (two paragraphs), and

2. two practices shared by at least three of the religions we covered, again being sure to choose religions from both the Abrahamic and Dharmic families (at least 2 paragraphs).

3. Obviously your findings here are limited but do they suggest that all religions might teach the same thing?

Note, you need to read through the attached PDF as a final exam  preparation….but we have not yet covered all of this material yet as  part of the intriguing ancient climate section of the course… The  second and final paper of the semester is based on the following  attachments. Please thoroughly read the attached material.  You can organize your paper in whatever way you would like but please  be sure to address all of the points/questions, based on the attached  articles. If you just look up this information online, without  thoroughly reading the attachments, you will not meet the requirement of  this assignment. As an important side note, a sizeable portion of the final exam will come from the material presented in the PDF (in addition to lecture) so it's a good study resource.  Per the attachments – What  information is presented and why is it significant? What's the argument  within the field of geology and are both perspectives being equally  portrayed in the education system? Why or why not?
What is uniformitarianism? Give evidence, if any, for the support of this view. What is catastrophism? Give evidence, if any, for the support of this view. Can both really be true? What are the implications of this question and why does it matter? Has  there been any suppression in the public-policy or scientific community  regarding any one of these views and why might this be so?   Please include specific examples from the attached articles in  your paper as well as any outside information you would like to add  (acceptable but not necessary).
This paper should be at least 2 pages typed, double-spaced, 12 point font, regular margins as a Microsoft Word document.

Assignment 2: Discussion—Crafting a Strategy to Fit the Business

The Web site Amazon.com once aimed to be the world’s largest bookseller. Now the company offers a wide range of products and services to consumers, operating online retail storefronts for partners and developing and selling its own manufactured products (such as Kindle).

Can a company like Amazon.com have a strong business model but a weak strategy? Using the Internet, find Amazon’s most recent annual report and peruse its main sections.

Based on your analysis of the report, respond to the following:

• How has the company’s strategy changed from the original generic strategy that was applied? 
• How would you describe the central elements of Amazon’s strategy?
• In your opinion, what elements are involved in implementing the following business strategies?
  • A low-cost provider strategy
  • Differentiation
  • Diversification
  • Market timing

Write your initial response in approximately 300 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Assignment 2: Discussion—Communicating Policy Even When You Do Not Agree

BANKS Industries has experienced rapid expansion in the past several years. However, it appears that the HR department is just now catching up by revising policies and rapidly implementing changes. One of the new policies outlines the requirements of a new dress code, which is stricter and more formal than the previous requirements.

Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research the concepts of communication and change management. Then, based on the above scenario, respond to the following:

• As a manager, what is your role when it comes to communicating policy changes to employees, especially when the policy is not one with which you necessarily agree (for example, policies regarding personal cell-phone use in the workplace)? As a manager, how would you communicate such policies?
• How will you accommodate multiple cultures when communicating these issues to employees? As you prepare to address this question, take into consideration the following communication concepts: To be a successful cross-cultural communicator you must remember the following:
  • There are no universal gestures.
  • You should be sensitive to verbal and nonverbal communications or behaviors.
  • It is important to be open-minded to cultural views of others and their ways of communicating. For example, a frown could mean concentration in some cultures, whereas in other cultures, it is interpreted as anger or disappointment.

Some managers would rather get a root canal than go through the performance evaluation process with their direct reports.  Why?  What does research tell you?
