Week 02 Written Assignment – Gestalt

Week 02 Written Assignment – Gestalt

The visual principle of gestalt, pioneered by German Max Wertheimer, is one of great importance in the design world. The statement, "The whole is different than the sum of its parts," summarizes much of the gestalt theory. In this assignment we'll explore this statement in detail.

Choose a famous work of art. The Image Resources in the Course Materials folder should help you find a good source. Look closely at the image and identify several of the individual elements within the image. Imagine the removal of one of these elements. How would the meaning of the image change? Remove a second. With two elements missing, how does the meaning change again?

In a brief 2-3 page analysis, identify the image you chose. Describe the meaning of the image as a whole. Then describe the meaning of the image as the first element is removed and again after the second is removed. What does this exercise show you in terms of how imagery can be used in media?

Must be in APA format, reference page (2-3 References) and at least 1-2 incite citations.

Week 02 Discussion – Sensation and Perception

Week 02 Discussion – Sensation and Perception

Search the Internet for an image from a used as part of an advertisement or published with a written work. Post a link to that image. Provide a brief analysis that looks at both the concepts of visual sensation and visual perception of the image. In what ways did the designer make use of Gestalt theories, constructivism, semiotics, and/or cognitive approaches to help the viewer derive meaning from the visual?  In your response post, look at the image posted by another student. Think about your initial reaction to the image. Then read their analysis. How does your interpretation of the image change?

CCSS & Differentiated Classrooms

CCSS & Differentiated Classrooms

What we have learned so far in this course is that students come to us from diverse backgrounds and have their own unique learning needs. We have also learned that the systems of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are grounded in differentiated instructional practices to form the basis of quality curriculum.

As noted in Week Two, you participate in your school’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) as developing experts in implementing differentiated instruction. For this assignment, you will create the content for a blog (not actually creating the blog at this time) that identifies differentiated assessment and teaching strategies. These strategies can be used to assess student mastery of the new Common Core State Standards while providing engaging and rigorous classroom instruction.

For the purpose of this assignment, you will be using a Word document (two to three pages) to create a prospective blog that can be designed online at another time.

Within your blog, you must:

  • Describe (in general) the standards for mathematics.
  • Describe (in general) the standards for English language arts.
  • Summarize the Common Core State Standards initiative including their purpose (i.e., the expectations of the CCSS) and academic impact.
  • Discuss how differentiated instruction is an essential strategy for the CCSS.
  • Explain five or more differentiated strategies, tools, or activities that will support teachers’ implementation of the CCSS for mathematics.
  • Explain five or more differentiated strategies, tools, or activities that will support teachers’ implementation of the CCSS for English language arts.

Use your course text and at least two scholarly articles from the Ashford University Library or Google Scholar to support your research. Your paper will be formatted according to APA guidelines including title and reference pages.

Advanced Solid Waste Management

Advanced Solid Waste Management

NEED BY TOMORROW

Unit VI Scholarly Activity A local municipality expects to close its landfill in one year, and it has decided to adopt a thermal technology for the treatment of its municipal solid waste. The city needs your help to choose between a traditional municipal waste incinerator and a pyrolysis unit. As a solid waste professional, you have been hired by the city council to provide an analysis of these two technologies. You are tasked with preparing an executive summary that compares the two technologies. Your summary should contain the following items: a short description of the technologies, their advantages and disadvantages, their waste products, and their economics; the fundamental science and engineering principles of solid waste management that are involved; the laws or standards that factor into your decision; how your decision will affect the population of the community; and your recommendation and rationale to the city. Your executive summary should be a minimum of three pages in length. You must use your textbook and at least one resource from the CSU Online Library in your paper, but other academic sources may be used in addition. Any outside information used must be cited in accordance to APA style, and your paper should be formatted in APA style to include a title page, running head, and reference page. • Assignment Instructions You have been offered the opportunity to apply for a leadership position in your organization. As a part of the application process, your potential employer uses the National Center for Healthcare Leadership's (NCHL) competency model of leadership development (NCHL, 2016), which includes a 360-degree evaluation. The evaluation is an assessment that includes anonymous, confidential feedback from those around you, such as your peers, supervisor, direct reports, stakeholders, as well as a self-assessment on behavior (relational), technical and operational skills, and strategic ability. As a part of this 360-degree evaluation, you will complete the self-assessment component. (You should use the information from the Leadership Self-Assessment you completed in Unit 8 for this component of the assignment.) This information will be shared with the interview committee for the position, so it is important that you demonstrate your knowledge and experience in each of the areas outlined below. o Consider strategies or best practices that could be applied to improve outcomes. o Where do you have room to grow in this area? o How can you prepare yourself to do so? • Explain why diversity and inclusion are important to employee relations and the provision of safe, high-quality health care.  o Provide an example you have experienced or read about. Cite your sources. • Explain how your leadership characteristics prepare you to develop and lead a diverse team of employees and serve a diverse community within an ethical framework.  o In what ways can you address issues of diversity and inclusion, both within an organization and in serving the public? • Explain how the academic and research skills you develop as a practitioner-scholar can serve you in your role as an effective health care leader.  o How might those skills contribute to your effectiveness and credibility as a leader? o How will the knowledge and information you have gained from this course, and from your own research, guide your continued leadership development. . • Your written self-assessment should meet the following additional requirements:  o Communication: Proofread your writing. o Length of paper: 5–7 typed, double-spaced pages, not including the title page and reference page. o References: Cite at least 4–5 different sources. These can come from peer-reviewed journals or other scholarly resources, the assigned unit readings, and other reputable resources. o APA formatting:   Include a properly formatted title page, reference page, and abstract.  Apply correct formatting to all in-text citations and references.
