Compare the legal definition of insanity with the psychological concept of mentally ill.

  1. Ethical issues can arise between psychology and the legal system. What are some examples of ethical issues arising between these two entities? Use examples from this week’s required readings to support your claims. Consider the Christian principles of ethics and read the GCU Statement on the Integration of Faith and Work. How might a person with the Christian worldview address the ethical issues you provided?
  2. Compare the legal definition of insanity with the psychological concept of mentally ill. How do these two terms differ? How does this distinction affect the validity of the insanity defense?

Cost of Capital

you will explore how companies compute their cost of capital by computing a weighted average of the three major components of capital: debt, preferred stock, and common equity. The firm’s cost of capital is a key element in capital budgeting decisions and must be understood in order to justify capital projects.

Cost of Capital

For this Discussion, imagine the following scenario:

You are the director of operations for your company, and your vice president wants to expand production by adding new and more expensive fabrication machines. You are directed to build a business case for implementing this program of capacity expansion. Assume the company’s weighted average cost of capital is 13%, the after-tax cost of debt is 7%, preferred stock is 10.5%, and common equity is 15%. As you work with your staff on the first cut of the business case, you surmise that this is a fairly risky project due to a recent slowing in product sales. As a matter of fact, when using the 13% weighted average cost of capital, you discover that the project is estimated to return about 10%, which is quite a bit less than the company’s weighted average cost of capital. An enterprising young analyst in your department, Harriet, suggests that the project is financed from retained earnings (50%) and bonds (50%). She reasons that using retained earnings does not cost the firm anything since it is cash you already have in the bank and the after-tax cost of debt is only 7%. That would lower your weighted average cost of capital to 3.5% and make your 10% projected return look great.

Based on the scenario above, post your reactions to the following questions and concerns:

What is your reaction to Harriet’s suggestion of using the cost of debt only? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? Why? Do you think capital projects should have their own unique cost of capital rates for budgeting purposes, as opposed to using the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) or the cost of equity capital as computed by CAPM? What about the relatively high risk inherent in this project? How can you factor into the analysis the notion of risk so that all competing projects that have relatively lower or higher risks can be evaluated on a level playing field?750 words

Concept Synthesis Paper On Personal Nursing Philosophy

Concept Synthesis Paper on Personal Nursing Philosophy

You are required to submit a scholarly paper in which you will identify, describe, research, and apply the concepts that underlie your personal philosophy for professional nursing practice.

This will help you identify your own values and beliefs about the established metaparadigms and metatheories of the discipline. It will also help you identify and articulate concepts relevant to your specific practice. This paper is intended to be an exercise in clarification and organization of your professional foundation. You are also required to provide a list of assumptions from personal nursing practice that illustrate the concepts and framework of your theory.

Your paper should follow a format that includes:

  • Nursing Autobiography: A brief (1 page) discussion of your background in nursing.
  • The Four Metaparadigms: Identification, discussion, and documentation from the literature of your perspective on the basic four metaparadigms/concepts of patient, nurse, health, and environment.
  • Two Practice-Specific Concepts: Identification, discussion, and documentation from the literature of your perspective on at least two other concepts specific to your own practice.
  • List of Propositions: A numbered list of at least five propositions or assumption statements that clearly connect the concepts described.

Each week, you will complete various segments of your Concept Synthesis Paper and submit it to the Submissions Area for facilitator feedback when necessary. Your paper should integrate these discrete elements and reflect your personal nursing philosophy.

Your Concept Synthesis Paper on your Personal Nursing Philosophy is due in Week 3. However, it is recommended that you begin working on your paper from Week 1 onwards and complete the various components related to the paper week wise as you progress through the course. The suggested tasks for each week are:

Week 1: Nursing Biography and The Four Metaparadigms of Nursing
Week 2: Two Practice-specific Concepts, and List of Propositions/Assumptions
Week 3: Due: Concept Synthesis Paper on Personal Nursing Philosophy

Consider the following questions as you complete your various tasks related to this assignment.

1.

How do I define and employ the four basic metaparadigms of nursing theory in my professional practice?

2.

What are the major concepts I employ that are unique to my professional practice?

3.

What philosophies and theories from the literature of nursing and other disciplines/domains are consistent with these concepts?

4.

How are the concepts of transcultural nursing, the health promotion model, skill acquisition, role theory, and change theory specifically integrated into  my philosophy and practice?

5.

What research supports these theories and concepts?

6.

How do I integrate role and change theory into my professional practice and how may these theories be applied to the organization in which I practice?

The paper is to be thoroughly researched and well documented, with relevant material from the nursing theorists presented incorporated into the paper. Use the current edition of the APA Manual throughout the paper. Sources should focus on references from nursing theory but may also include conceptual and theoretical material from other professional domains. The paper, excluding references or appendices, is to be limited to 6-10 pages. Writing should be succinct and well organized, as it is impossible for the facilitator to evaluate form and content separately.

Your philosophy/framework is to be given a title that is appropriate to its content and emphasis.

For this specific assignment, I only need the following parts in a minimum of four pages:

  • Nursing Autobiography: A brief (1 page) discussion of your background in nursing.
  • The Four Metaparadigms: Identification, discussion, and documentation from the literature of your perspective on the basic four metaparadigms/concepts of patient, nurse, health, and environment.
  • Two Practice-Specific Concepts: Identification, discussion, and documentation from the literature of your perspective on at least two other concepts specific to your own practice.

The final part of the paper will not be needed until next week  so if you complete these first two parts, I will need you for the last part which must be a minimum of two pages.

To help with this paper, here is my brief nursing background: “I have been in the medical field since 2001 in Cuba. I got my RN license in the USA this past April after a long process which included the NCLEX RN exam, English proficiency, and submission of all my documentation from my university. Working as a home health nurse since April 2019. My future plan is to keep growing as a nurse, work as a family NP in some hospital or family clinica where I can offer the best of my knowledge to my patients. I would like to be able to practice different specialities so that way I would integrate my skills for the benefits of my patients. “

Individual- Compensation Evaluation

You were hired to work as a HR Consultant for a small local hospital, with the task of expanding the workforce of certified medical assistants. Looking at the current three employees, you find a discrepancy in compensation between Susi, a 2-year employee at $28,000, Tom, 5-year employee at $27,000, and Raul, a 10-year employee at $33,000. All are employed as certified medical assistants, yet they all make different amounts of money. According to survey data, all three employees are below the market rate for this job in the local job market. All three employees are also exemplary employees with near perfect scores in their most recent performance evaluation.

Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper that includes the following:

  • Explain the discrepancy in pay among the current employees.
  • Describe the strategy you would take to correct the internal equity issue.
  • Describe the strategy you would take to correct the external equity issue.
  • Explain how you will ensure that new hires will be paid equitably both internally and externally.
  • Explain how an organization’s Total Compensation strategy affects an organization’s financial operations and its ability to attract, motivate, and retain top talent.

What is the character and function of Deity in Genesis 1-2 and Enuma Elish?

This is a thought paper on Enuma Elish and the Bible. It is a 700-800 word paper that thoughtfully answers a question drawing on the relevant primary sources.

Answer ONE of the following questions with supporting evidence from Genesis 1-2 and Enuma Elish:

  1. What is the character and function of Deity in Genesis 1-2 and Enuma Elish? In other words, what is God like (or are the gods like)?
  2. What is the relationship between Deity and humanity like in Genesis 1-2 and Enuma Elish?

The thought paper should include:

  1. The student’s name and the selected question;
  2. A concise but informative thesis statement (1-2 sentences) that directly addresses the question and summarizes the student’s key conclusions.
  3. The body of the paper in which the student develops their own thoughtful answer to the question through analysis of the primary sources. Arguments should provide textual evidence for all aspects of the thesis, demonstrating sensitivity to matters of genre, context, etc.

The thought paper will receive a grade based on the quality of the student’s own thought/analysis, interaction with the readings, quality of written communication (grammar, spelling, etc.), and attention to the parameters of the assignment.

All sources must be properly documented.

Reliance on web-based materials—rather than the student’s own reflection and engagement with the material—will result in lost points and.
