Select a topic such as those presented below and identify an existing federal health policy problem in that area, (b) analyze the role of research information in reshaping that policy, and (c) propose changes/improvements in the existing Public Law dealing with that policy or propose a new one. This should result in a twelve- to fifteen-page, double-spaced written paper. A good starting point is to analyze a current issue pertinent to PPACA.

Your paper should include the following:

• Twelve pages in length, not including the title and reference pages.

• Five to eight peer-reviewed references cited in the assignment. Remember, you must support your thinking/opinions and prior knowledge with references; all facts must be supported; in-text references used throughout the assignment must be included in an APA-formatted reference list. (References should be current, not more than five years old; additional references articles from the popular press such as the WSJ and Washington Post should also be considered.)

Contemporary issue(s) facing the Tribe today: Write a 3-page paper about one or more contemporary issue(s) faced on the reservation and how does the tribe overcome (protect & preserve) the(se) issue(s). Issues such as culture loss, language loss, Indigenous education, blood quantum and tribal memberships, gaming, health and welfare, suicide, domestic violence and sexual assault, substances abuse (alcohol & drug), social problems, external encroachments such as a city is growing over the tribe’s border, border wall, or fracking, etc.

1. At least 4 primary sources. 

2. At least 4 scholarly journal articles. 

3. Utilizing just websites as the only source for your research paper will not be accepted. 

4. Feel free to use additional sources to complete your research paper.

5. Include a copy of the treaty for the tribe you are doing the research with this paper. The copy of the treaty is an appendix and it does not count as one of the research paper pages.
