Cocktail Assignment

Cocktail Assignment

Go online and research as much as you can about the construction of cocktails. Summarize and report back on a minimum of three sources o What is (are) the key elements of a well-constructed cocktail? o What techniques can you use to determine the kinds of ingredients that might go well together? o What kinds of elements can be made “in house” that will provide a unique experience to your guests? This portion of your report should provide a summary of a “framework” that could be used to construct an original cocktail; something that could be included on the made-in-house cocktail menu of your cocktail lounge or restaurant and be considered a unique or signature item.

EBM As Business Practice

Review the Ecosystem Based Management (EBM) concepts and the six key aspects of EBM as described below:

Integration of ecological, social, and economic goals and recognition of humans as key components of the ecosystem.

Consideration of ecological–not just political–boundaries.

Accounting for the complexity of natural processes and social systems, and using an adaptive management approach in the face of resulting uncertainties.

Engaging multiple stakeholders in a collaborative process to define problems and find solutions.

Incorporating understanding of ecosystem processes and how ecosystems respond to environmental perturbations.

Concerned with the ecological integrity of coastal-marine (or any other) systems and the sustainability of both human and ecological systems.

Identify a Canadian company that works primarily in the industry provided to you by the Professor in Unit 2. This company should have the following characteristics:

It should work mostly, if not entirely, in the industry provided.

It need not be an active company, but cannot be defunct for more than 10 years.

While active it must have embarked on a significant and well publicized or documented expansion or project.

Conduct research into the company’s expansion, using the six aspects of EBM as starting points and focus of your investigation. Please note that the six aspects of EBM can apply to all ecosystems. Please ensure that you adapt the generic meaning of each of the aspects to the specifics of the ecosystem(s) you are investigating.

Write an essay in which you evaluate whether the expansion or project was an EBM success or failure. The essay should

be approximately 2000 words (± 200 words),

begin with a concise abstract (1-2 paragraph overview to the topic, research conducted and conclusions)

use sound research to support the analysis and equally sound reasoning in arguing whether the expansion or project was an EBM success or failure,

summarize your findings in a concise conclusion,

be supported by a minimum of nine sources (and at least three of these must be a peer reviewed academic journal article), and

use APA style formatting in the organization and referencing of your research.

Week 5 Bus Law

Week 5 Bus Law :

Final Paper

You are the manager of Acme Fireworks, a fireworks retailer who sells fireworks, puts on ground display fireworks, and large aerial display fireworks. The company started in the owner’s garage two years ago and now has 15 employees that you manage. The company started as a sole proprietorship, and the owner has never changed the entity. The owner has informed you that the company has received inquiries from several large businesses wondering if the company could create several fireworks displays on a regular basis. The owner told the inquirers that the company could fill such display orders, and a price per display was agreed upon. It was discussed that most of the cost for a fireworks display is for skilled labor, insurance, and the actual service of setting off the fireworks. No other details were discussed. The owner is anticipating that new employees will need to be hired, but he is worried that if the large orders for fireworks displays do not continue, the company will not have the funds to pay the new employees. The owner is now considering changing the business entity, but he does not know what entity to form or how to form it.

The owner has asked you to do the following:

Determine if the contracts with the businesses will be governed by common law or the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and explain why.

Analyze whether the owner formed a contract with the businesses, and apply the five essential elements of an enforceable contract.

Explain the potential personal liability to Acme Fireworks if a spectator is injured by a stray firework from a fireworks display.

Discuss the different employment types and relationships relevant to agency law, and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each type specific to Acme Fireworks.

Explain why Acme Fireworks should not operate as a sole proprietorship. Recommend a new business entity, and provide rationale to support your recommendation.

For each task, be sure to analyze the relevant law, apply the facts to the law, and make a conclusion.

Individual Assessment Paper

Individual Assessment Paper

Individual Assessment Create an example investment analysis using $100,000 to invest. Compare returns invested all in the selected organization for five years, or a bank account with a 5% fixed return for five years. These are the only two investment options to compare:

A. A bank account earning 5% per year. B. Common stock of __________.

The audience for your analysis is an investor approximately 25 years from retirement and the investor’s income is greater than living expenses. The investor has a liquid net worth of $1,000,000 of which 40% is invested in the S&P 500 index, 40% in a medium-duration, high quality bond fund and 20% in a savings account earning 5% interest per year. Determine if the investor (under the above criteria) should take $100,000 from the savings account and purchase $100,000 of this company’s common stock. Your analysis and findings should be suscinct but also provide sufficient information for the investor to make an informed decision by addressing the investor’s reasonable questions including the following:

 What is the problem? What are you trying to figure out?  What historical financial information helped you make your decision – ratios, growth

rates, margins, projections, competition?

 What role does risk play and how do you account for it in your analysis?  What industry information helped you make your decision – such as competition, overall

markets, and state of the economy?

 What are you assuming about the future?  What are the critical factors that led you to choose the option you chose?

Instructions: Use your previously assigned company for the individual assessment. Each individual will submit an analysis. This is not a group assignment. Limit response to 3 pages, typed, double-spaced, plus no more than 2 pages of exhibits. This is both a math and a story assignment: your math has to support your story and your story has to support your math. 3 pages of text plus 2 pages of exhibits is not a lot to cover this assignment; you need to be concise, relevant, and convincing in those 5 pages. There is no right answer. But there are right approaches, wrong answers and wrong approaches. You will be graded on the quality of your approach, the accuracy of your analysis, and how convincing your argument is. Grading Criteria – Rubric Case Study Part 4

Cause and Effect Essay

Cause and Effect Essay

Review the sample outline for a Cause and Effect Essay that begins on page 267. Note the sample provides a complete thesis statement along with topics for supporting paragraphs accompanied by specific examples.

Using the textbook’s format, draft your own outline for a Cause and Effect Essay on Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado.”

Choose an interesting element or statement from the work for which you can determine or hypothesize on its cause and effect. Example: _________________ happened because of ________________. (A very good approach to this essay would be to focus your thinking on the causes of Fortunato’s fate and the cause of Montressor’s rage)

The final draft of your Cause and Effect Essay (due at the conclusion of Module 7) will require a minimum of 4-5 paragraphs and 500 words. In addition, students will be asked to directly quote from Poe’s story at least once, meaning that correctly formatted MLA/APA citations are required along with a Works Cited Page/Reference List.
