Assignment 3: Effective Organizational Training Programs

Assignment 3: Effective Organizational Training Programs

Given the changing employee demographics and rapid updates to technology, it is important for organizations to link training and development to the needs and preferences of its workforce. Training facilitates acquisition of new knowledge and skills, and development facilitates the ability to handle future responsibilities. Continual training helps ensure that employees have the skills, information, and motivation required to successfully achieve organizational objectives.

Based on the company you chose for your discussion question this week, create a 10-15 slide PowerPoint presentation which includes the following:

Summarize the current organizational training program.

Explain why you believe the organization’s current training model is effective or ineffective

Present an idea for a new training program or component to the existing training program which would promote employee engagement

Explain why the new program or component would be effective

Describe the desired outcomes of the new training program/component

The speaker notes section will be used to provide an explanation of each slide. APA format should be followed.

Case Study Comparison Discussion Post

Compare and contrast the case study of Artie (appendix B in the text) to a case study previously covered in class. Discuss intervention techniques you would use when dealing with the child’s or adolescent’s disorder. Support your thinking with module material.

Mini Research Proposal

This written assignment for this week is based on the work conducted in the “Correlation and Regression Study” discussion forum from this week. Based on this initial work, feedback received, and additional research, you will submit a mini research proposal that calls for the use of correlation and regression analyses.

Please include the following in the research proposal:

Introduction (1 paragraph)

Present the research question of interest.

Provide a basic description of what correlation and regression are.

Explain how correlation and regression apply to this research question.

Methods

Participants (1 paragraph)

List how many participants will be selected.

Identify who will be the participants and their major demographic characteristics (e.g., sex, age, etc.).

Explain how participants will be selected for the study.

Procedures (1-2 paragraphs)

Identify the variables in the study.

Describe each variable’s scale of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio) and characteristics (i.e., discrete vs. continuous, qualitative vs. categorical, predictor vs. criterion, etc.).

Provide an operational definition for each variable, explaining how the variables will be measured.

Results (1-2 paragraphs)

Describe the statistical tests that will be conducted. Be sure to include why each test was chosen and why it was appropriate for this study.

Identify the information that will be obtained from the results of these tests and what will be needed to answer the research question.

Discussion (1 paragraph)

Identify any expected biases, assumptions, or faults with the proposed study and the use of the identified statistical tests.

Explain what conclusions can and cannot be made for this study, when using these statistical tests.

Describe the practical significance or importance of the results.

Discussion: Individual Vs. Structural-Cultural Theories

Theories help frame more than presenting problems—they also frame social problems, and both types of problems can be linked in relation to client issues. For example, many scholars and social workers have attempted to understand the social problem of poverty. Turner and Lehning (2007) classified various psychological theories to explain poverty under two headings: (1) individual-related theories or (2) structural/cultural-related theories. In other words, think of these two headings as lenses in viewing poverty. In this Discussion, you apply lenses through which to understand a client’s problem in relation to social problems.

To prepare:

Read this article listed in the Learning Resources: Turner, K., & Lehning, A. J. (2007). Psychological theories of poverty. Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment, 16(1/2), 57–72. doi:10.1300/J137v16n01-05

Select a theory under the individual-related theories and a theory under the structural/cultural-related theories.

Complete the handout “Comparing Individual-Related and Structural/Cultural-Related Theories” to help you craft your response. (Note: You do not need to upload the handout to the Discussion forum. The handout is intended to assist you in writing your Discussion post.)

Assignment: Application Of Systems Theory To A Case Study

In this course, you will be asked to select one case study and to use it throughout the entire course. By doing this, you will have the opportunity to see how theories guide your view of a client and the client’s presenting problem. Although the case may be the same, each time you use a different theory, your perspective of the problem changes, which then changes how you go about asking the assessment questions and how you intervene.

The first theoretical approach you will use to apply to a case study is systems theory. In other words, your theoretical orientation—your lens—will be systems theory as you analyze a social work case study.

Different theories can be used to take a systems approach. For example, Bertalanffy’s General Systems Theoryconsiders how a system is made of smaller subsystems that influence each other and seek homeostasis, whereas Brofennerbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory focuses on how an individual’s experience is influenced by different system levels (micro, meso, exo, macro, and chrono). Systems theory is commonly used to understand the interrelationships of the systems (e.g., family, community, organizations, society) of the client. If you are working with families, communities, and organizations, it is also beneficial to use systems theory to get a holistic picture of all the interrelated parts of the system.

To prepare: Select and focus on one of four case studies listed in the Learning Resources. You will use this same case study throughout the course.

Focus on the identified client within your chosen case.

Analyze the case using a systems approach, taking into consideration both family and community systems.

Complete and submit the “Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study” worksheet based on your analysis.

Heroin Abuse: Nurses Confronting A Growing

Review the Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) example.Based on the provided PLAAFP, write a narrative in 750-1,000-words that includes the following for Dan, the case study student:

Three annual, measureable goals/objectives.

Three to four action steps for achieving the goals.

An explanation of how Dan and his family will be involved in setting the goals and monitoring his progress.

Rationalize your choices.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Heroin Abuse: Nurses Confronting A Growing Trend

Heroin Abuse: Nurses Confronting A Growing Trend

Students should introduce the bioethical issue (Heroin Abuse: Nurses Confronting a Growing Trend) to include key concepts, decision making, a theoretical framework model and the significance of the decision in nursing. Discuss what concepts are highlighted and the effects on the nurse or the nursing profession. Only Nursing scholar journal in USA should be use as a reference.

The Function of Art Objects

The Function of Art Objects

Some of the art objects created by the cultures surveyed this week served functional roles in their society. Using your course textbook locate three such objects, one each from the following: Islamic, Asian (Chinese or Japanese), and African.

First, completely identify each object you would like to discuss by listing its name, date, and location.

In a minimum of 2 well-developed paragraphs discuss:

What was the function of each object at the time of its creation?

What historical events or social or cultural influences affected the creation of each work?

How do the visual characteristics of each object contribute to or enhance our understanding of its meaning?

Be sure to explain your ideas clearly and support them by discussing specific details about each work.

Respond to both questions as thoroughly as possible, making sure to use information from the readings and the lectures. All responses should be in complete sentence form, using proper spelling and grammar.

As soon as possible, review and comment on the work of two of your peers.
