HUM 3425 African heritage assignment

In the Goophered Grapevine, a narrator is a man from the Northern side known as John, who is looking for a property together with his wife Annie in North Carolina. They want to move from Ohio as the wife Annie is not in good state health wise. In Ohio John specializes in growing grapes and is looking for a perfect place in Carolina where he can grow grapes. In Carolina, he finds a plantation that has for several years been neglected.                                                                      At the plantation, the meet a former slave known as Uncle Julius, who lives there. Uncle Julius advises the couple against buying the plantation as the grapevine is under a spell that is gathered. John looks cynical about the whole idea of the spell, but his wife Ann gets concerned and inquire more about the story.                                                                                                                                                                                            The Goophered Grapevine shows how the ignorance of the privilege of the white permits whites to rule over African Americans.
