Describe alcohol abuse syndrome with a focus on signs and symptoms, mild to severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms and associated treatment

Understanding Alcohol Abuse Syndrome

Alcohol Abuse Syndrome is as a result of  interconnected factors.Example is how one is raised, genetics, one’s social environment and one’s emotional health. Particular racial groups, including Americans, Indians and Native Alaskans are more exposed to risks than others of the developing alcohol addiction (Sher, 2004). People who have previous records of alcoholism or those who associate closely with heavy drinkers are likely to develop drinking problems. Moreover, individuals who suffer from a mental problem like anxiety, bipolar disorder, and depression are additionally riskier because alcohol can be utilized to self-medicate.

Nursing Electronic Documentation and Receiving Verbal Orders from Doctors

Nursing Electronic Documentation and two for Receiving Verbal Orders from Doctors.

Attached I have a rubric and example of format (two per page / 4 double spaced pages)

The Journal/Annotated Bibliography assignment is a self directed and reflective exercise derived of self-selected topics from module 2, Westrick Chapters 11-25

This assignment consists of two parts for each topic selected, to besubmitted as one document in the dropbox:

•     two annotated bibliographies related to each topic you've chosen and

Annotated Bibliography

Select TWO chapters, from the module readings and complete a search of scholarly nursing literature (not websites) pertaining to these topics which you would like to pursue further explanation or pursuit of knowledge.

If you are unsure of what constitutes a scholarly nursing journal or a critical annotated bibliography review the library and writing resources in the "Begin Here" section.

Guidelines on how to write an analytical or critical annotation.

An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources followed by a paragraph length annotation, 150–200 words in length.  The purpose of this analytical or critical annotated bibliography assignment is to demonstrate the research you have performed on a particular topic.

An analytical or critical annotation not only summarizes the material, it analyzes what is being said. It examines the strengths and weaknesses of what is presented as well as describing the applicability of the author's conclusions to the research being conducted.

For example:

Breeding evil. (2005, August 6). Economist, 376(8438), 9. Retrieved from http://www.economist.com

This editorial from the Economist describes the controversy surrounding video games and the effect they have on people who use them. The article points out that most critics of gaming are people over 40 and it is an issue of age not of the games themselves. While the author briefly mentions studies done around the issue of violence and gaming, he does not go into enough depth for the reader to truly know the range of studies that have actually been done in this area, other than to take his word that the research is unsatisfactory. The author of this article stresses the age factor over violence as the real reason for opposition to video games and stresses the good gaming has done in most areas of human life. This article is a good resource for those wanting to begin to explore the controversy surrounding video games, however for anyone doing serious research, one should actually examine some of the research studies that have been done in this area rather than simply take the author's word that opposition to video games is simply due to an issue of generational divide.

Pay attention to the last sentence. It criticizes the authors’ research.

To get started

•     Choose your sources – Before writing your annotated bibliography, you must choose your sources. This involves doing research much like for any other project. Locate records to materials that may apply to your topic.  You are to search current (<5 years) scholarly nursing literature.

•     Review the items – Then review the actual items and choose those that provide a wide variety of perspectives on your topic. Article abstracts are helpful in this process.

•     Write the citation and annotation  – When writing your annotation, the complete citation should always come first and the annotation follows. Arrange the annotated bibliographies alphabetically. You will want to include:

1. The purpose of the work 2. A summary of its content 3. For what type of audience the work is written 4. The relevance of the topic 5. Any special or unique features about the material 6. The strengths, weaknesses or biases in the material

Guidelines for formatting the citations / references

Remember, the citations themselves must be formatted properly. Always double check yourself and do not assume the example or another's work is correct – YOU are responsible for what you turn in.

PHE 505 Final Project Milestone Four: Methodology and Data Analyses Guidelines and Rubric

Overview: The methodology section of a research proposal is the study blueprint. The methodology section clearly outlines the systematic approach the

researcher will take to answer the research question. In this section, you will provide the blueprint for your research proposal by addressing the key elements

including the population, the study sample and sample size, the location of your study, the timeline for the study (consider factors such as finding a location,

hiring staff, recruitment, data collection process, etc.), and the costs associated with the research. In addition, the methodology section describes and outlines

any ethical issues that the researcher must consider such as the recruitment of minors, cultural issues, payment of incentives to study participants,

confidentiality, anonymity, and invasive procedures.

Your research design will inform the type of data analysis you must conduct to answer your research question(s). If you have chosen to propose a study that is

quantitative in nature, such as a case-control study, cross-sectional, survey methodology, focus groups, or experimental study, then you will use statistical data

analysis to answer your research questions. However, you may have chosen to propose a qualitative study, such as grounded theory, narratives, ethnography, or

case study, which will require you to answer your research question(s) using rich descriptions, formulating concepts, or synthesizing experiences. Regardless of

the study design, all research will address validity, reliability, and generalizability. Choose a data analysis plan that is suitable to the type of data you will be

collecting.

Prompt: For your methodology section, be sure to address the following:

 Describe the population affected by the public health issue and the location of the population.

 What is the sample size you will need to answer your research question? Include the formula to be used for the sample size calculation.

 Explain your rationale for the study sample selection. What type of sample is it? (Snowball, systematic, random, convenience, etc.?)

 What type of study will you conduct? Examples include case-control, cross-sectional, grounded theory, quasi-experimental, etc.

 Study logistics: Where is the location of your study? What is the timeline for your study? What are the projected costs associated with the study?

 Consider and describe the ethical implications of this study. In this section you will want to thoughtfully and thoroughly describe any known or potential

issue that may have ethical implications.

 Explain how you will address ethical issues.

For your data analysis section, please submit a detailed outline describing your proposed data analyses process. The process must be specific to the research

design you have chosen and demonstrate a direct link to answering the research question. Be sure to address the following:

 What methods will you use to collect the data? (If instruments such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, or similar tools will be used to collect data,

indicate if it is an existing instrument or a new one.)

 Assess and confirm that the data collection methods are appropriate for the research design.

What approaches will you use to analyze the data? For quantitative study designs, indicate the statistics you will employ, such as frequencies or logistic

or linear regression analyzes, etc., to answer your research question (s). For qualitative research designs, describe the way you will present the data to

answer your research question (s).

Is your research valid, reliable and generalizable? Provide a complete answer that addresses each element.

Guidelines for Submission: The methodology section of your paper should be 2 pages, and the data analysis should be 2pages. Your paper should be a

Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and all sources cited in APA format.

PHE 505 Final Project Milestone Three: Research Question Guidelines and Rubric

PHE 505 Final Project Milestone Three: Research Question Guidelines and Rubric

Overview: The primary objective of public health research is to add to the body of public health knowledge. Research that is well designed can help to inform

public health programs, halt disease transmission, and potentially eradicate disease. All research begins with a question or a series of questions that require an

answer. These questions may arise from emerging trends in public health or through the identification of gaps in current rese arch.

Prompt: Please craft an original research question that addresses the public health issue you are trying to answer.

 Address the specific public health issue, the target population, location, and time period(s).

 How will this research question add to the body of knowledge concerning this public health issue? Briefly address the current gaps in research, and what

gap this research will fill. Be sure to cite the sources from your literature review.

 Evaluate the feasibility and validity of the research question(s).

Guidelines for Submission: Your research question must be submitted as a 1-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman

font, one-inch margins, and sources cited in APA format.

Case Study: Royal Bank of Canada in Thailand

Case Study: Royal Bank of Canada in Thailand

This case analyzes the problems facing a bank in a foreign country and the reasons

for deciding to stay or to close its operation. Royal Bank of Canada is the bank

involved in this real life situation.

After closing its representative office in Thailand in the 1980’s Royal Bank of Canada

reentered the country in 1997. “Now” Royal Bank of Canada needs to decide if it

feels confortable enough with the decisions made by the government of Thailand

and the IMF, and the future outlook to stay in the country or if on the other hand, it

should cut its losses and focus its efforts elsewhere.

Your assignment is to:

1. Demonstrate a through understanding of the case by describing in great

detail all aspects of the case

2. Prepare a detail recommendation for senior management recommending to

stay in the country or to leave the country

3. Write a brief summary of major insights that you have gained and lessons

learned from the case

In your presentation you must be sure to provide answers for all these questions or

issues:

1. What were RBC’s ultimate goals in opening a representative office in

Thailand?

2. How large is the initial staff for the office and what is the estimated pretax

profit?

3. What are RBC’s four major business lines in its Asia Pacific network?

4. What are the limitations of BIBF licenses?

5. What are the advantages of the possible upgrading of RBC’s operations in

Thailand to a branch status?

6. What are Thailand’s most important exports?

7. What is the “current” (1997) situation in Thailand?

8. What are the highlights of the IMF’s bailout of Thailand?

9. As RBC’s representative in Thailand you need to prepare a detailed

recommendation for senior management to either:

 a. Stay in the country and “weather the storm”, which perhaps means

to take losses for an extended period of time

 b. Cut your losses now and have the bank focus on its efforts elsewhere,

which means forgetting about getting back in the country in the

 foreseeable future

2 In order for the instructor to verify that all students in the Group have contributed

to the Group’s presentation, students must use the Group-Forum to discuss and

coordinate the assignment, and the Group’s File Exchange to post their individual

participations. The Captain of the Group is responsible for coordinating the

discussions and for posting the Group’s presentation on Blackboard ‘s Assignment

Tool.
