Accounting Essay Questions

Instructions:  For each essay question below, please type your response in the text field given below. Do not upload a photo or use any other method.  You should label your response to each questions A), B), C) and so on.  If you do not follow these instruction, you may lose points or miss the entire question.
A)  Senior management has devised a plan to increase sales by 15% in the next three quarters which was successfully implemented and executed. Given the assumptions that the organization is operating within the relevant range and the linearity assumption hold true regarding the behavior of costs as well as the selling price remaining constant with no discretionary increases in fixed costs, how does it explain lower net operating income with higher sales?
B) Please explain and discuss the financial statement impact of the overhead application process, including the affected accounts.
C) Given the current economic climate (i.e., inflationary pressure) along with prices being elastic, what steps should management take to increase profitability and sales of its products assuming 80 percent capacity utilization? Specifically, you need to address how management will increase sales and profitability given the aforementioned factors.
D)  Gemtron Company is a diversified electronics company specializing in manufacturing semiconductor chips for a number of products for global organizations. Recently, the company received a special order from a potential new customer. Company A requested that Gemtron manufacture 10,000 semiconductor chips. Gemtron is operating at 90% of its total capacity; therefore, it can fulfil the order without disruption to its normal operations. Gemtrons semiconductor chips normally sells its chips for $20. The finance department provided the following manufacturing cost data to manufacture one chip: direct material $6, direct labor $3, variable manufacturing overhead $2 and fixed manufacturing overhead of $6. Assuming Gemtron accepts the request to fill the special order, what is the minimum unit price should Gemtron charge per unit to make a $10,000 incremental profit?

Create a Problem Statement and Create an Annotated Outline

Part 1: A concise statement that identifies the problem, the issue that you plan to examine.
The extent of the problem. Note local, state, or federal statistics on how many people are affected.
The depth of the problem. Explain the impact that this problem has, including any relevant aspects, such as psychological, social, economic, etc.

A thesis statement is one sentence that states the main idea of a research paper.
This is my thesis: Students who are experiencing depression and hopelessness lack motivation to succeed in school.

Length: 1 page
References: Include a minimum of 2 scholarly resources.

Part 2: In this second part of the assignment, you will construct an annotated outline that builds from your problem statement and thesis statement. Your outline must include the topic and main themes you plan to discuss in your Week 5 Literature Review Paper. Please use peer-reviewed research published in the past 5-7 years. You may also include any government journals that offer statistics on the problem.

While a traditional outline allows you to structure your paper topic and main ideas, an annotated outline takes this traditional outline a step further by requiring you (the researcher) to add citations and evidence to support the main points stated in the outline.

Length: 1-2 pages
References: Include a minimum of 6-8 scholarly resources.

Discussion Post

Give an example of a time when you intentionally looked at other diverse and ethical perspectives in order to make a better/more ethical decision. What sociological concepts could help explain your decision-making process? What influence did they have?

Scenario: In the graduate program at Herringbone University, students are allowed only one missed class per semester or they face academic discipline. Three female students have approached you as the diversity and ethics officer with a concern about the policy. They explain that they all have young children (as do many students in the program), and getting childcare during class times is difficult because some of the classes dont end until 8:00 in the evening. They feel the policy is unfair, especially since the university doesnt offer any support, leniency in policy, or childcare options. In addition, the location of the university (an upper middle class neighborhood where most children have at least one parent at home) is not where most students live (a neighborhood where most children have two working parents or a single working parent).

How would you approach this issue using diverse and ethical perspectives? Use specific examples from the scenario and your personal and professional life.

Why is it important to consider diverse and ethical perspectives in this situation?

How would you raise awareness and communicate the importance to others at your school in your role on the diversity and ethics committee?

Article one will focus on describing: 1) the importance of diversity in the workplace and 2) the importance of cultural competency in dealing with a diverse clientele
Article two will focus on describing: 1) why diversity is important in psychology research, and 2) how diversity is considered in research on your capstone topic/issue.
Be sure to format your document as a newsletter with figures (such as percent charts, etc.) and appropriate images.

Analyze the organization in which you work (or have worked in the past) in terms of its diversity management initiatives. Which diversity components does the company currently implement? Not implement? What are your companys strengths and weaknesses considering the integrated approach to managing diversity? Is there a diversity component missing from the model? If so, what is it and what are the initiatives that fall under the newly added diversity component? Next, what differences exist between uncovering data that describes an organization’s racial and ethnic makeup and understanding the causes of inequity? Finally, comment on the qualitative differences and/or similarities presented in the TED Talk for this week and how diversity issues are presented in the text. With cited and references.

Code of Conduct

Acting as the new principal of your school, and incorporating your Clinical Field Experience information, develop an original student code of conduct that aligns to the school’s vision and mission, promotes every student’s academic and social success, and establishes a positive learning environment conducive to protecting students and school personnel.

Include the following sections in your Student Code of Conduct:

  1. Background: A brief description of the school, including grade level range, student and staff numbers, and geographic location such as rural, urban, or suburban.
  2. Student Code of Conduct Values Statement: A one-page outline describing specific school values that promote positive behaviors and a school culture that align to the schools vision and mission. Include a list of 4-5 specific behavioral expectations for all students (e.g., All students will respect the rights of others.).
  3. Student Code of Conduct Topics: A one-page outline listing 7-10 student code of conduct topics/policies you would include in the handbook to protect the welfare and safety of students and staff.

Write a 500-750 word narrative explaining why you developed the student code of conduct the way you did. Explain how the student code of conduct ensures academic and social success for every student by promoting integrity, fairness, social justice, equity, acceptance, and respect between and among students and faculty within the school.

Support your narrative with 2-3 scholarly resources.
