Business 475

  1. Challenges in the Business Environment
    Overview
Changing, or even stating, a companys values can be a long and arduous process, but it often pales in comparison to the effort it takes to make sure they are honored, implemented and projected. In this assignment, you evaluate how well your chosen company from the first assignment has done in walking the talk and responding to a social issue.
    Preparation
Review your chosen companys mission and values statements as well as other sources that provide insight into the companys values with regard to social responsibility. Pick two of their primary values and research how the company manifests those values. Simple examples might be the commitment to workplace diversity or ecological sustainability.
    Instructions
Create a 35-minute (approximately 68 slides) PowerPoint presentation that evaluates how well the company embodies its issue-related values. Your presentation should contain detailed speakers notes that flesh out and support main points, ideas, or conclusions and have supporting citations.
    1. Summarize your chosen company’s Supplier Responsibility information.
    2. In your own words, explain how each aspect of your Supplier Code of Conduct is committed to ethical business practices and social responsibility.
    3. Discuss your company’s stance on each of the following areas:
      • Empowering Workers.
      • Labor and Human Rights.
      • Health and Safety.
      • The Environment.
      • Accountability.
    4. Identify the key ways that your company’s Code of Conduct has changed since last year.
    5. Examine the manner in which your company’s Supplier Code of Conduct helps the organization operate as a socially responsible organization.
    6. In this week’s discussion, you consider assembling a team to write a supplier code of conduct. Recommend the stakeholders roles (45) needed on the team and how each supports the project.
    7. Integrate at least three supporting resources from the or other reputable sources.

Wk 4, MHA 543: Multigenerational Workforce Conflicts

PART I

In the 21st century, the health care workforce is made up of four different generations of workers, who now operate from many different cultural perspectives. As a health care manager, it is important for you to understand how to manage conflict within and between these groups. In this assessment, you will evaluate strategies to support the multigenerational health care workforce and help them work in a harmonious fashion.

Imagine that you manage a department in a health care organization of your choosing. The organization recently merged with another, layoffs occurred, and departments are now being consolidated. Your department now has employees whose ages span four generations, in which three different cultural groups are represented. Conflict is brewing between them. The conflict is affecting performance, shift scheduling, and cooperation with other departments.Your supervisor requests that you prepare a presentation addressing strategies to effectively manage your multigenerational workforce, especially as it relates to conflict in workstyles.

Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word directive to address these conflicts. Do the following in your directive:

  • Assess the situation that your department is facing.
  • Create clear and reasonable expectations and goals to achieve cohesion, cooperation, and communication between the 4 generations of workers in your department.
  • Lay out a strategy to overcome these conflicts and improve workplace performance.
  • Explain how success will be measured based on your strategy and goals.
  • Consider using tables, matrices, or other visuals.
  • Evaluate what leadership traits you need to incorporate to lead your diverse department.

PART II

Create a 15-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes that presents your directive to the human resources manager and chief operating manager. (INCLUDE INTRODUCTION AND CONCLUSION SLIDES) (TITLE AND REFERENCE SLIDES DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE 15-SLIDE COUNT)

*Speaker notes 100 – 175 words count per slide (introduction-conclusion)

*Each slide should have at least 3 bullets.

Cite 4 reputable references to support your assignment (e.g., trade or industry publications, government or agency websites, scholarly works, or other sources of similar quality).

Format your assignment according to APA guidelines.

In the given scenario, Mr. H who is a thirty-seven-year-old male with a known history of unprotected homosexual sex with men and no recorded history of an HIV test within the past six years related to being in a stable relationship developed an unusual type of cancer known as, Kaposi sarcoma. Given that Mr. Hs viral load was substantial and had diminished levels of CD4+ T cell counts at 180 cells/microliter, he is more than likely in stage III defined as AIDS determined by CD4+ T cell count of <200 cells/microliter (McHance & Huether, 2019). Kaposi sarcoma (KS) is mainly associated with immunosuppression among individuals living with HIV (Luo et al., 2021). Rate of KS are higher among males in comparison to females and in younger age groups from aged 35-49 years (Luo et al., 2021). Luo et al. (2021) reviewed cases of Kaposi sarcoma (KS) from thirty-six cancer registries in the US from 2008-2016 from ages 20-59 years old. The authors noted that an increase in younger age groups may be a result of lack of control over immunosuppression due to late HIV diagnosis or possibly delayed treatment with active antiretroviral therapy (ART) (Luo et al., 2021)

Low CD4+ T cell count

The CD4+ T cell is low as a result of the HIV virus binding to the surface of the T helper cells and replicating within them. Subsequently, it causes a destruction of the CD4+ T cell by inserting viral integrase where it may remain dormant ( McHance & Huether2019; Vidya et al., 2017). Vidya et al. (2017) described HIV infection as accelerated production and destruction of CD4+ T cells. During the timeframe of HIV Infection, approximately one billion HIV viral particles are produced daily leading to an increased amount of infected CD4+ T cells (Vidya et al., 2017). Following this, infection spreads to memory cells located in the thymus where viral replication is initiated in this lymphoid organ (Vidya et al., 2017).

Low CD4+ T cell and pneumocystis pneumonia

Mr. H developed pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), an opportunistic disease which largely affects individuals with advanced immunosuppression. In the case of his decreased CD+4 T cell count and recent diagnosis of untreated HIV infection; Mr. H. is suffering from an AIDS-related illness varying in degree of severity from mild to moderate presentation based on arterial oxygen levels (Shibata & Kikuchi, 2019)

Length of HIV status

In Mr Hs case with a significantly low CD4+ count (180 cells/microliters), he may have been HIV positive for up to five years. McHance & Huether (2019) noted that in Stage III at one to five years, CD+4 T cell counts of < 750, < 500, or < 200 cells/microliters progressed to AIDS.

Length of time before discovery of status

The amount of time before Mr H. discovered his HIV status may be the result of the duration of the asymptomatic stage which varies from a few months to as many as a few years with an estimated median of 9.8 years (Vidya et al., 2017). Up to ninety percent of individuals in the initial stages of HIV (stage 0), will experience acute viral symptoms much like an influenza type infection with generalized malaise, headache, fever and a rash (McHance & Huether, 2019). The individual may believe he/she has the flu, and it resolves on its own. Nonetheless, HIV viral particles remain active in body fluids (McHance & Huether, 2019).

Need help starting general journal for final project.

I have been stuck on this assignment for months. Not exaggerating, only because I have asked for help with starting it and was basically told it was in the past lessons and to figure it out on my own. I need help only with starting my final project. I have a learning disorder so for the  school to tell me that they cant help me has made me put it aside for a few months due to how stressed I get when trying to figure it out on my own. Anyone with some help for my “Bright Ideas Light Center ” would be much appreciated. I just need help starting the General Journal , from their I should be able to complete the rest on my own.

Discussion

Define social welfare and social welfare policy.

Explain how social welfare policy governs social work practice and programs.

Explain in 23 sentences how one historical circumstance or event surrounding an issue or problem inspired a drive for social change.

The goal here is to concisely point to an important historical event for context rather than conduct a deeper historical analysis.

Describe at least one way in which your role as a social worker and social change agent could continue to improve social welfare and social welfare policy.

Why did Mr. Hohner develop Kaposi sarcoma, an unusual type of cancer?Mr. Hohner may have developed Kaposi sarcoma due to a weakened immune system, which may have made him susceptible to infection by Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV). The virus may have then infected the cells that line blood and lymphatic vessels (Chakraborty et al., 2020). KSHV often brings genes into such cells, thus causing the cells to divide and live longer than they should(Chakraborty et al., 2020). Besides, the genes also cause the endothelial cells to form new blood cells and increase the production of chemicals that cause inflammation(Chakraborty et al., 2020). The outlined types of changes tend to turn the cells that line blood and lymphatic vessels into cancer cells, explaining why Mr. Hohner developed Kaposi sarcoma. Why is his CD4+ T cell count so low?Mr. Hohner’s CD4+ T cell count may have been low due to the destruction of the Th cells by the human immune-deficiency virus (HIV). The virus may have resulted in cytopathic effects, thus causing lysis or dissolution of the host cells (Mousseau et al., 2019).What is the relationship between his low CD4+ T cell count and Mr. Hohner’s pneumocystis pneumonia?CD4+ T cells are often critical for the resolution of Pneumocystis, as they facilitate memory functions that coordinate host inflammatory responses by recruiting and activating effector cells, which are responsible for the elimination of Pneumocystis jirovecii, a fungus that results in Pneumocystis pneumonia(Qiao et al., 2022). Therefore, a low CD4+ T cell count results in low recruitment and activation of effector cells (Qiao et al., 2022). This implies that effector cells available cannot eliminate Pneumocystis jiroveccii (Qiao et al., 2022). Thus, an individual becomes more susceptible to the infection. The explanation demonstrates why Mr. Hohner developed Pneumocystispneumonia.Given the usual course of HIV infection, how long has Mr. Hohner most likely been HIV positive?Mr. Hohner may have likely been HIV positive for at least 7-10 years. Why did he have HIV infection for so long before it was discovered? It may have taken long before Mr. Hohner was diagnosed with HIV because the virus may not have replicated enough within the Th cells for a diagnostic test to detect.
