The purpose of this project is the creation of a research proposal. A research proposal is one of the initial steps toward conducting research. Even though the research proposal is due in Week 10, the nature of this type of assignment requires you to work on the proposal throughout the course. Each week, you will be reminded where you should be in the proposal development. It is also important to communicate with your course instructor each step of the way to get feedback. He or she will be able to answer your questions.

Week 1: Final Project: Selecting a Topic

Developing a research proposal is a good way to experience research aspects firsthand without conducting an actual research study.

In this assignment, you need to develop a research proposal. Your research proposal must be a 1012-page document and include the following sections:

• Introduction
• Literature Review
• Methodology
• Discussion and Conclusion
• References

Each week, you will concentrate on creating a section of the research proposal. The Methodology section will be based on either of the two major research designs, quantitative and qualitative. You will develop the final project as the course progresses by collating all the sections and incorporating them into a final proposal due for submission in Week 10.

This Week

Create the Introduction section of the research proposal. Include the following:

• Select a topic for your research project.
• Explain why this topic is of interest to you.
• Explain the topic and describe the potential research areas in the topic.

Choosing your topic:

The best way to choose a topic is to research the topic before you choose it.

One of the biggest challenges in finding articles for your topic is that your topic may not have much in the way of research. The remedy for this is, when you first have an idea for a topic, to go to the online library and do a quick search on current research for your topic. If you can find several articles on your topic, then you’re good to go. If you can’t, then it would be good to modify your topic a bit or even change it until you find one that will generate the needed articles for your reviews.

When searching for articles, scan first and read later:

You can speed up your article search if you focus mainly on three things.

• Look at the journal nameit may provide some insight into access to other articles. Many journals are specific to a certain discipline or area of study.
• Review the abstract firstthe abstract will provide valuable information on what the article may hold. Remember though it doesn’t contain all the information. It is still imperative to read the entire article if you choose it as one of the ones you will use.

Using each of the three readings (citing and referencing each one), compare and contrast common themes and viewpoints each one has about sustainable competitive advantage.

Directions

Select 2 companies in the same industry  (example: Target and Walmart; Ford and Chrysler; Verizon and T-Mobile). Using sources to support your thoughts, describe what you feel are the differences in strategy/focus each company uses, the unique value each tries to communicate to customers, and how successful you feel each company has been at implementing and communicating their strategic advantages.

Week 10 Assignment – Capstone

Overview

In this assignment, you are to use the same corporation you selected and focused on for assignments in Weeks 3, 6, and 8.Research the company on its own website, the public filings on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s page, Strayer University’s , the , and any other sources you can find. The annual report will often provide insights that can help address some of these questions.You will give a 15-minute presentation to the board of directors of the corporation. Develop an 8-12 slide PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes based on your assignments from Weeks 3, 6, and 8, and the following:

Scenario

KION Group is a global material handling Equipment Company based  in Germany. Forklift trucks and warehouse automation equipment are the  company’s main products. KION Group needs to prepare for the prevailing  computer incidents of today and tomorrow. An organization can assist in  developing a computer incident response team (CIRT) plan for a number of  computer-based safety incidents.

This assignment will discuss a CIRT plan, which is often used as a  contingency plan for the KION Group. A system administrator noticed  yesterday that several of the file servers at HQ were responding very  slowly. In everyday terms, a confidence interval is the range of values around a sample statistic (such as mean or proportion) within which clinicians can expect to get the same results if they repeat the study protocol or intervention, including measuring the same outcomes the same ways. As you ask yourself, “Will I get the same results if I use this research?”, you must address the precision of study findings, which is determined by the Confidence Interval. If the CI around the sample statistic is narrow, you can be confident you will get close to the same results if you implement the same research in your practice.

Because this was a systematic review, and tai chi exercise has been established from the studies you assessed as helping people sleep, based on the sample statistics and the CI, clinicians could now use your study and confidently include tai chi exercises among possible recommendations for patients who have difficulty sleeping.
