2-2 Communication Plan

Overview

Stakeholders are individuals or groups that have an active interest in an organization. Stakeholders and stakeholder groups typically include employees, vendors, communities, government agencies, customers, investors, and lenders. Different stakeholders have different interests, attitudes, and priorities. Effective communication ensures that they receive relevant information and develop positive attitudes to your organization in the scenario.

As the regional marketing director of a theme park, you are in the process of designing a phased marketing strategy for reopening all parks after a safety incident. You have already helped other marketing directors understand the importance of having a good marketing mix to inspire customer loyalty; now help them with a stakeholder communication plan. Develop a communication plan that will ensure stakeholders understand the steps the organization is taking to benefit them.

Three aspects to consider for effective stakeholder communication are the interest of stakeholders in the organization, the impact of the reopening decision on stakeholders, and the relevance of information going to stakeholders.

Prompt

Complete the communication plan for the stakeholders of the organization in the course scenario. Refer to the  for an example of how the template can be used.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  1. Identify the three key stakeholders (a minimum of one internal and two external groups) in the reopening of the park.
    • Internal Stakeholders
      • Employees
      • Departments
      • Management
    • External Stakeholders
      • Customers
      • Suppliers
      • Lenders
      • Communities
    • Use the Communication Grid Template to complete this step.
  2. Identify and analyze the information about each stakeholder group and their need for communication. Use the to complete this step. Consider the following points:
    • Stakeholder’s interest in the parks reopening
    • Assessment of the impact on stakeholder (low, medium, or high)
    • Information and communication needs of the stakeholder
    • Communication methods to and with the stakeholder
  3. Identify two crisis communication methods for communicating with stakeholders.
    • What forms of communication can be used to quickly communicate with internal stakeholder groups?
    • What forms of communication can be used to communicate with external stakeholder groups?

Guidelines for Submission

Submit a 1- to 2-page Word document, which includes your responses and the completed Communication Grid Template, using double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Consult the Shapiro Library APA Style Guide for more information on style.

Instructions:  Technology makes vast amounts of information (and misinformation) readily available. The challenge is navigating this sea of information. Our goal for your general science education is to develop your scientific literacy. A critical skill you must develop is the ability to find reputable sources for scientific information.  There are many sources of high-quality scientific information on the open web; you just need to learn how to spot them.

For this weeks discussion:

Select a source of meteorological information from the open web (the topic can be any topic related to meteorology or that of your research topic).

Evaluate the source and explain why it is or is not a credible source of information.

Provide a reference in APA format.

Use the name of your source as the title of your discussion post. You cannot use a source that one of your classmates has already used as a topic for their initial discussion post.

For your discussion this week, you need to respond to at least two of your classmates initial posts and discuss whether you agree or disagree with their assessment and citation and why.  Your follow-up posts can add additional insight to your classmates opinions and can challenge their opinions.

Property condemnation

Vern Shoepke bought a two-story home in Roche, Maine. The warranty deed did not specify what covenants would be included in the conveyance. The property was adjacent to a public park that included a popular Frisbee golf course. (Frisbee golf is a sport similar to golf but using Frisbees.) Wayakichi Creek ran along the north end of the park and along Shoepkes property. The deed allowed Roche citizens the right to walk across a five-foot-wide section of the lot beside Wayakichi Creek as part of a two-mile public trail system. Teenagers regularly threw Frisbee golf discs from the walking path behind Shoepkes property over his yard to the adjacent park. Shoepke habitually shouted and cursed at the teenagers, demanding that they not throw the discs over his yard.

Two months after moving into his Roche home, Shoepke leased the second floor to Lauren Slater for nine months. The lease agreement did not specify that Shoepkes consent would be required to sublease the second floor. After three months of tenancy, Slater sublet the second floor to a local artist, Javier Indalecio. Over the remaining six months, Indalecios use of oil paints damaged the carpeting in Shoepkes home. Using the information presented in the chapter, answer the following questions.

  1. What is the term for the right of Roche citizens to walk across Shoepkes land on the trail?
  2. What covenants would most courts infer were included in the warranty deed that Shoepke received when he bought his house?
  3. Can Shoepke hold Slater financially responsible for the damage to the carpeting caused by Indalecio? Explain.
  4. Could the fact that teenagers continually throw Frisbees over Shoepkes yard outside the second-floor windows arguably be a breach of the covenant of quiet enjoyment? Why or why not?

Debate This:
Under no circumstances should a local government be able to condemn property in order to sell it later to real estate developers for private use.

Student response 2

As a nurse working in healthcare, it is vital to provide safe, quality care to my patients despite the limitations of resources. To provide this care, policy is developed to regulate care and protect nurses. Such policies may include controlling patient to nurse ratios and policies to protect patients’ confidential information. Policy, however; is influenced by completing resources.

Many competing needs affect the nurse shortage. The primary goal of a healthcare worker is to provide safe quality care to patients. Hospitals and other healthcare organizations also must work to operate at a sustainable cost. The balance of profitability and quality of care can be hard to maintain. Moreover, the healthcare company must balance the quality of the employee’s life (Akinleye et al., 2019).

Due to nurse shortages, healthcare workers must continue to work in high stress environments. These high stress environments are aggravated by high patient loads, complex patients, and high acuity of patients. This is combined with less time to manage tasks and a lack of resources to accomplish day-to-day tasks. The nursing shortage contributes to a healthcare organization having to allocate this high number of critically acute patients to a single nurse in efforts to increase profit. For this reason, policies are needed to ensure safe, quality care while saving money (Akinleye et al., 2019).

Nurse burnout can also contribute to nurse shortages. At my facility, many nurses left bedside after the strenuous COVID-19 season. Studies have shown that workers during the pandemic worked longer hours with more acutely sick patients (Lopez et al., 2021). For this reason, I would conclude that the pandemic was a competing factor in nurse shortages. My healthcare organization tried to develop policies to help nurses achieve adequate work-life balance. For example, the hospital established a policy that provided an opportunity for nurses to get discounted prices at the wellness center.

A factor that may also contribute to the stressor of the nurse shortage is the need for a facility to adopt technology. A healthcare facility might need nurses, however; leadership might choose to direct their financial resources toward maintaining health information technology versus recruitment or hiring needs (Kelly & Porr, 2018).

Several things can be done to address these completing needs. First, policy can be made to enhance educational resources for nurses. For example, if a nurse that typically works on a medical surgical floor is required to work in a critical care unit due to shortage of available critical care workers, this nurse needs to be educated throughout. If these nurses are provided better education safe quality care can be achieved. Moreover, as I mentioned before, the pandemic added another level to patient care. Education of the virus and its effects on the body system would be beneficial. According to a study, nurses do not always feel adequately trained to care for these individuals (Sperling, 2021).

Carriers liability

Vanessa Denai owned forty acres of land in rural Louisiana. On the property were a 1,600-square-foot house and a metal barn. Denai met Lance Finney, who had been seeking a small plot of rural property to rent. After several meetings, Denai invited Finney to live on a corner of her land in exchange for Finneys assistance in cutting wood and tending her property. Denai agreed to store Finneys sailboat in her barn.

With Denais consent, Finney constructed a concrete and oak foundation on Denais property and purchased a 190-square-foot dome from Dome Baja for $3,395. The dome was shipped by Doty Express, a transportation company licensed to serve the public. When it arrived, Finney installed the dome frame and fabric exterior so that the dome was detachable from the foundation. A year after Finney installed the dome, Denai wrote Finney a note stating, Ive decided to give you four acres of land surrounding your dome as drawn on this map. This gift violated no local land-use restrictions. Using the information presented in the chapter, answer the following questions.

  1. Is the dome real property or personal property? Explain.
  2. Is Denais gift of land to Finney a gift causa mortis or a gift inter vivos?
  3. What type of bailment relationship was created when Denai agreed to store Finneys boat? What degree of care was Denai required to exercise in storing the boat?
  4. What standard of care applied to the shipment of the dome by Doty Express?

Debate This:
Common carriers should not be able to limit their liability.
